if by slim chance i find a GT at a junk yard some time soon, is it hard to take the e-brake line out? i heard i could use the rear disc assembly from a 5th or 6th gen celi, but the e-brake line has to be from 6th gen, right? also, i know i need the brake lines from the disc assembly. can anyone please take a pic of which line that is and where to disconnect it from? sorry for all the dumb questions.

There have been people who have used the 4th and 5th gen e-brake cables successfully. As far as taking them off... they're attached to the internal drum. Best way to go about it would be to just use the entire assembly with cables attached.

ah, so im assuming the cable has a point where it disconnects.

EDIT: how do i know if the car has ABS or not? other than ABS, i can use any rear disc assembly from 5th and 6th gens, right?

ABS is typically for the front only on FWD cars...

To simply put it... it's wrong. The how-to also implies you need to buy parts separately... but so long as you buy the whole assembly intact (which in most cases at the junkyards, they are generally intact)... you'll be perfectly fine. It's pretty much a bolt-on job. I looked up the ABS system, and the Celica does have Front and Rear ABS... but regardless... all the ABS system has that the non-ABS doesn't have is rear speed sensors and ABS grooved hub. You can still use the the entire assembly without the ABS because ABS is mostly an electronic system.
