well mines on its last legs
the passenger side won't go up unless i manually lift it half way and then it will go up with the button. it has no problems going down though. anyone have any idea 1. if it IS the motor thats broken, or if it could just be a fuse 2. how expensive this would be to fix 3. if theres any other convertible motors that i can use (ie: older celicas, solara's, etc) instead of searching for a celica one since they are very rare up here any help would be MUCHHHH appreciated -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

If the motor didnt work at all it would be possibly a fuse, although unlikely, but what your describing is that only one side isnt working. Now I dont know anything bout the verts are you sure its a single motor? I dont know if each side has its own motor.
A 5th gen motor might work a Solara motor I'd say most defintaely a mounting & plug change would be necessary not to mention it might be more expensive. -------------------- |

95-97 top motors have had a history of going bad. If it is bad, buy one for the 98-99.
-------------------- QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this. |

how much would be involved in repairing it? is this going to cost me an arm and a leg, or is it not too too bad?? -------------------- lissa | 1997 Celica Convertible

I'm not sure about the prices on Celicas, but my Mustang convertible had the top and motor replaced just before I bought it and the reciept was for almost $900

Best way to tell if its bad is switch them. Yes the left one can be put on the right side. That way you will know if the motor is bad. Motors are 229 I believe. I will sell you one for 115 shipped if you want.
