Yep, I know that this question was here a million times but here we go again. I did search on different websites and the sizes go from 6.5 to 6.5 with OEM adapter to 6-3/4. So which one is it. My car came stock with a cassete and CD-player. it didn't come stock with tweters.
And now I am about to buy some speakers. I really need to know if 6.5 would fit front and backs. Thank you This post has been edited by Niskyspy: Jun 25, 2005 - 11:00 PM -------------------- <<AKA THA RUSSIAN>>

Hmm...I couldn't tell you for sure then. I think Celicas with power options from the factory have different speaker setups.

Nice...I posted this almost a year ago:
QUOTE(1900WattCelica @ Jul 7, 2004 - 5:24 PM) Hey, Ive owned 2 Sixth gen Celicas in my ripe old age of 20 and heres some ideas I can share.... My first was a 94 ST w/o power locks or windows. The speaker hole appears to be 6 1/2 to 6 3/4". The problem I had with Alpine Type R 6 3/4 components is that the mounting depth is too deep to fit when the window was rolled down. So what I decided to do is cut out the speaker grilles and then drill holes for the speakers to mount to the door panels themselves...not behind them like stock. It really worked great and looked awesome. Heres a pic from my cardomain page Heres the whole page My current one is a 95 GT 5 speed (sooo much more fun ) This one has power locks and windows, and the speaker size measures out to 8" with the ridicuously thick plate that is around the stock speaker. I found an actual 8" (210mm) midrange and tweeter system made by Focal. Problem is its extremely rare, Its a 210EX in the discontinued Typhon Line. If you can find it however, I highly recommend them because they have incredible bandwith and can provide bass if you do not plan on having subs. These things fit like a glove in the stock speaker bracket. The mounting holes do not line up...but because it was so extremely tight, i decided to just use some silicone sealer to hold the woofer in place. I havent gotten around to posting pics of my new car but will come soon! The bottom line is that if you do not have power controls...the stock speaker bracket is about 6 3/4". If you do have power controls, it is closer to 8". I do not recommend putting free air subs in the front doors, because the front stage is meant to be reserved for the midrange and shimmering highs of tweeters, not bass. If you cant come up w/ a 8" midrange, then look at the "how to" on making a bracket adapter to go from 8 to 6 3/4. Hope these ideas can help you all out Heres the topic: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...58entry156158 |

well, why dont you try getting your door panels off and take measurements to be sure?
either way, you can always buy/make an adapter to make the speakers fit. I bought an adapter for mine. This post has been edited by dahoman9: Jun 27, 2005 - 10:16 AM |

96% sure that is a yes. If you have a power lock door interior, it should have a 8" hole regardless of ST or GT |

I got mine from ebay. one pair was only $10 shipped. I don't think that's a bad price considering the time saved for fabrication. Good thing too cause I had one hell of a wiring mess to clean up once I took that door panel off. I'd swear whoever put the last system in had a negative IQ. yeah, i bought my speaker adapters from that seller too. I had to sand it out a little, as the spacer didnt fit my kicker 6.5"s, but that was only minor.

I just mounted the speakers from behind. It's just PVC so it is very easy to modify if you need to mount the speakers from the front. -------------------- Project ST204.5 99.88946% complete... |

Back in the car on the other hand.. where the rear doors would have been on a 4 door car.. The holes look _alot_ bigger than up front. Are those like 10" then, or? I'm such a fr00b when it comes to stuff like this :/ -------------------- |

Underneath that it is an 8" hole. Dont make me take pictures The speakers in back have a bracket behind the grille that will fit alot of 6 1/2 inchers with minor modification. |

Who would have thought that they would make speaker adapters that fit both corvettes and 90s celicas. Sweet! If i didnt have the 8's I would have gotten these |
