I am debating whether or not to drop my car. I am planning to get 18's and I do want to drop it. However, I don't like rubbing cause when I had my Expedition with the 22's on it, it rubbed like crazy and I had to pay a lot for it to be fixed. Anyways, has anyone experienced coilovers bought from Ebay? I do want coilovers because I like the choice between how much it should drop and to be able to change it instead of bagging the car. Maybe I'm wrong? But if I do it do I need to buy anything else? Like new struts? And what size tires would be best with no rubbing, at a decent drop of an inch (maybe). Advice please.

I'm new to the Celica forum but I have been dealing with lots of other cars, Well if your really going for looks and ready to dodge for speed bumps it's one way to make your ride low. But in the other hand if your looking for speed I wouldn't put on a 18" rim on in the first place. Well if your looking to go in a cheap way of lowering the car buying front / rear shocks with lowering springs will cost you less but the power to control your ride's height is a whole diffrent feeling. If your looking to keep your lovely ride go with TEIN coil overs it's much better then some E bay stuff. Yes it does cost much more then the E bay price but to me it seems worth it. biggrin.gif

I do like looks because my Celica is slow. I'm upgrading from outside to in....I like the looks of 18 inch rims. Then again looks aren't everything. I do want a good ride rather than bumpy one.

i say do what most have done on this site... go with lowering springs and shocks... I went with Tein springs and KYB GR2 shocks... Ride is AMAZING and looks awesome...

Most people tell me that coilovers are not the way to go..

Hey i have a 95 celica st and i was thinking about lowering it. My friend told me that coilovers would be a good way to go, but you say just get lowering springs and shocks. I was just wondering if you had any other information on that or a picture of your car after lowering. thanks

I used the S-techs and GR2s as well, if u dont have any body mods, it brings the wheels nicely up into the fenders. Very sexy drop. Ill show u what it looks like/how much clearance it gives.

My car looks more like yours, so im guessing thats similar to what mine would look like after shocks and springs. What size rim does your car have? Thanks for the help and pics

My friend is telling me that new shocks with the coilovers would be better because i could lower my car more.

yea but the thing is with the slide over coil overs, they actually can damage you car more than ones like the tien 1 peice coil over setup. I dunno..i say get the S-techs, they r a really comfy ride and they look damn good...cheap too..i paid $200 cnd for them

ii have teins and i love them i wanted to lower my car and have a nice ride at the same time and teins satisfied me soooo much! but if you were lookin to slam your car to da floor! then coilover would prolly be the best bet for you and it is a rougher ride.

You want power but have no money. That's a problem.

Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick two.
