some of those races sound believeable. non SS cobalt it prolly really damn slow and most civics are slow
i just doubt you were able to get into 5th gear racing a 170whp civic on a stretch of road that is only 1/4 mile long a 75shot might put you at the level of a stock SRT4, but you have no hope of keeping up with a modded one and a decent driver -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

QUOTE(darksecret @ Jul 15, 2005 - 1:42 PM) I think her car was the VTEC-E version and the valve cover didn't say VTEC, it might have said Honda on the passenger side, the car was a 1997 Civic EX all stock, the VIN engine code was 8JY, I think. The EX rates 127 hp but it still didn't say VTEC, maybe it was the older version of the D16 that said it. Ummm... it's not that one in the picture is it? BTW... all VTEC D16's said VTEC on the valve cover. The major difference between the 92-95 version of the D16 and the 96-2000 is the intake manifolds. 2001-current D17's used COPs and said VTEC on the plastic wiring cover. -------------------- "It's ok to be naked girl... I was only in fourth when he got me and it was a small stretch (1/8th or so) so on a quarter it would have been a few more car lentghs easy the point was it isn't like he beat me bad by 10 or 15 lengths like he was doing to the Accords, but he didn't really pull on me as hard as I thought. You're right about a modded SRT, but I doubt i'll bother with the 5SFE after the nitrous. The SS kind of shocked me because the launch wasn't spectacular, but when it hit third it flew.

Nope that is the one I ran, hers was worse, and I do remember it didn't say VTEC because I was confused at what kind of 1.6 it had and I checked the VIN engine code and it was the VTEC-E, but what really got me is that it was an EX. Either way I had her get a Lancer OZ which is slow but looks good and the Civic she had was garbage, the sludge was built up so bad around the valvetrain that I could scoop it out and things were falling off everywhere, it was a repo car from American General, I told her not to get it but she wouldn't listen. The one in the picture had VTEC in big letters in the middle of the valve cover, I would have remembered that much on her '97.

what i meant was i seriously doubt that from a 25mph roll, on a stretch of road that is 1/8 to 1/4 mile long, that a celica GT can accelerate enough to require shifting into 5th. my car puts 245hp to the wheels and it can even do that. cobalt SS's are nearly as fast as a stock SRT4, it would have left you in its dust if the driver was up to par. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
