As I'm sitting here, bored, reading up on stuff, I hear "turbo-charged, all wheel drive" on World's Wildest Police Chases on FX so I turn around and this guy is in a sweet car chase. I guess he purposely got a cop to chase him and he floored it, doing 140 on straightaways and 120 around the curves. lol. The cops were losing him, so this other cop shows up in his "police Mustang 5.0" and the guy is on his a$$. The Talon keeps running from him and is doing all kinds of crazy (yet sweet) things like cutting people off and brake-checking them, causing the cops to nearly hit them. lol. They said he had run from cops numerous times.
Anyways, the guy in the Talon hits a bunch of curves and starts to gun it when he hits another straight road and his engine started missing and eventually gave out on him. The 5.0 spun the guy out and they caught him bla bla bla. I was just thinking, "If that was a Toyota or a Subaru, that guy would have gotten away." lol. Cops must be thanking Chrysler and Mitsu for making engines with shxtty reliability. It looked like the guy lived in his car too... It should have had a "trailer park tuner" sticker. lol. ***In no way, shape, or form, do I think trailer parks are bad places to live. You just can tell when a car came from the trailer park. lol. In the one around town, there are 17 Celicas... only one is a 7th gen. No 6th gens, and it was divided even between 4th and 5th gens.*** Pointless rambling -------------------- 1987 Celica ST (RIP) 1st car too

a subby? If it was a subbie, it wouldn't of gotten away. And if it was a toyota it'd have to be a supra or mr2 with the boost cranked....then the 3S would lift the head.

a turbo charged car should not be held at WOT for more than 40 seconds at a time things get way too hot and everything is heatsoaked, the engine bay, the intercooler, the turbo, cooling system, and the manifold/downpipe and if you look at that video, the guy is a moron, he could have easily gotten away, but he keeps slowing down and letting the cop catch up so he can show off. if it was my subaru in that chase, driven like that, it would blow up, but then again, the car gets to 130mph in like 15-17 seconds the car would definately be at its top speed(160mph) before 40 seconds are up. a stock WRX would probably take that kind of driving a lot better than mine, but it sure as hell wouldnt be able to ever hit more than 145mph, and it would take much longer to get there no turbo car would survive a beating like that, something NA would have a better chance of surviving. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

a turbo car should never have any knock issues at wot. if u are having engine knock, your intercooler is too small, you are running more boost then your turbo can produce, or you dont have enought fuel.... its all a tuning issue.

go get on a freeway and run your car at WOT for more than 40 seconds and see how the car likes it. 40 seconds is a LONG time. everything that has to do with the engine will heatsoak, and the engine will die if you keep it up is that 40 second rule ever a problem? no. Why? because any turbo car, DSM, EVO, WRX, MR2, GT4, Supra, Z, etc will be traveling at very very high speeds if they were to run at WOT for that long. the car will top out before 40 seconds anyway QUOTE(ArizonaRed @ Jul 20, 2005 - 4:11 PM) wait a minute i thought eagle talons were POS. i could buy that car for dirt cheap. the turbo in it is prob non BB and inside wastegate if it has one at all. correct me if im wrong. whats the specs of that engine anyway? the turbo AWD DSM's are cheap, and cheap to make fast. reliability isnt the best, but that greatly depends on the owner. turbo is not BB, but it does have an internal wastegate, every turbo car has a wastegate. 4g63 2 liter DOHC turbo engine 1st gen DSM's (1990-1994) were like 180hp, and the manual versions had a td04 turbo, the autos have the smaller t25 turbo 2nd gen DSM's (1995-1999) were 210hp and all had t25 turbos. -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

I just wanted to give you guys my $0.02.
If I were given a choice between the 3sgte and the 4G63, I would go with the 4G63 because it has better aftermarket support BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY the bottom end on a 4G63 is more robust and is capable of 450+ HP before you have to upgrade internals. The only thing you have to watch out for on the 4G63 is the bolt pattern on the block. Make sure it's a sixer otherwise you'll face crankwalk. Besides this, the 4G63 IS INCREDIBLY ROBUST. |

ive seen more then my share of 4g63s blow up ... its a great motor, easy to tune .... but the only real advantage to it has over a 3s, is that their stock turbo is better then the ct26.
the bad thing is... they put such a good motor into such a POS car and tranny that as soon as u start making any type of power, every part of the car will break down. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

If only Getaway in Stockholm worked in the US.
I'm downloading it now, but you say a 5.0 Stang? Like late 80s early 90s? I've seen new Stangs and Camaros, but not old 5-0 (driven by the... 5-0s...). -------------------- |
