Is the Injen short ram intake, or the Dr. CAI intake by Evil Speed better? I want to get an intake system, but I'm confused, which one would I see a bigger gain in power?

i like the injen short ram...its cool,..but if you have the ST or are lookin to save $ then go the evil. i've heard nothing but good things about them, and they're cheaper than the injen..( i paid 180+ shipping)

If you feel comfortable about working on cars, take a look at the how-to section. CelicaSTX02 did a great write-up on how to make a cold air intake yourself for pretty cheap too. I plan on making one over my Christmas break.

The Dr. CAI will definitely give you more power, because it draws in cold air rather than hot air from the engine bay. I've heard nothing but good things about them too, and the guy who makes them really knows his stuff. I'd definitely go for the Dr. CAI.

yah, between the 2...i'd def. go w/ the DR CAI, i myself made a pvc pipe, and it's quite nice...the CAI def gives more *umph* in the lower RPMs, and has an AWESOME sound to it. basically, for the money, i'd go w/ the CAI from John on celica.net...gets the cooler air, better sound, more practicle. INJEN stuff is nice, but the name makes the bill kinda large...and John's just out to help out for cost plus a little in his pocket for troubles...so it's a symbiotic relationship there. . he'll help you out, you'll help him.

My question is does the Dr. CAI have any way to trap water or keep water from going into the intake? and how does that work...because most intakes i read up on have some way to keep water out

I think you'd need something like an AEM bypass valve to do that. As long as your intake's filter doesn't get completely submerged in water, you should be fine. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
