I was gonna go food shoppin w/ my roommate tonite when i got into my car and turned the ignition but the engine didnt start. It turned but nothing happened. We tried jumping the car but that didnt work either so im guessing that rules out battery problems. If this isnt the problem then what the f*ck is????

Fuel, spark, combustion. Those are your three choices. Check your distributer and cap. There's a very common problem with the 5sfe with something in the ignition. Some one should post this. Check your gas level too, it's simple, but it happens. If you have any big oil leaks, it could be combustion, I doubt you don't know if this is the problem. Good luck, and this belongs in the engine forum. It won't get as much attention there though.

When you turned the key, did the engine try to start? Or did you just hear a click? Lastly, was there no sound at all- No click, or engine startup.

Just to add in, when was the last time the timing belt was changed if at all? You don't want to keep cranking the engine if that is the problem.

i think it has somethin to do with the fuel pump or something along that line. i had a friend come over who is a better mechanic than me and came to the conclusion that the car isnt getting any gas fuel at all or something. could be a coupe of things.

I'm in the same boat as you. Gotta pick my car up from my work tom. morning, hopefully then I'll be able to figure it out. Kinda hard to check over a car w/ just a screw driver in a parkinglot.
