I will be purchasing the DSL36-KUSS2 for a 96 Toyota Celica and noticed the EDFC is not compatible for this model.

I really want the EDFC and noticed the 90-93 Celica GST18-B1SS4 is compatible with the EDFC EDKU3-12140. Also the DSY70-2USS1 for the 00 Celica is too.

Can i purchase the (EDFC) EDKU3-12140 for the 96 Celica and make modifications to work.

Any reason why the EDFC is not compatible with the DSL36-KUSS2, so that I will know if I can modify it to fit the SS Damper for the 96 Celica?

Can I use the EDK03-12140 model for the celica GT4 ST205 that i found on the Tein japanese website. since the body frame is identical. If the EDFC for the ST205 GT4 works on the ST200 then what is the price for it? Awaiting your response.

Above was an email i sent to Tein's sales department.

Does anyone on this board know of or have purchased the EDFC and made it to work. Well of course the ST205 always have the best parts made available.

I know very little about the EDFC, but I would could the wiring would be pretty independent of the car's wiring. The lil boxes on top of the struts would communicated with the in cabin box and of course you'd have to wiring it up to the your battery. But I bet you could make it work.

no you cannot use the GT4 suspension parts as they are superstrut and you have a GT being a mcpherson.......totally different

oh and if you do research....the GT4 frame is much different from the GT/ST frame

did not know that the frame was different between the GT and the GT4, thanks for letting me know. Just thought the hood and bumper was different. I checked out the installation instructions for this device and it seems as if the problem might be the hood.

EDFC installation user posted image

There must be a minimum diameter clearance of 60mm(2.36inch) and a minimum height clearance of 24mm(0.94inch) centering on the top of the "Click Assembly". Please make sure that there is no contact with the hood or interior.

Since it states that there must be enough clearance from the hood than this should be workable as long as I use a GT4 hood or do some sort of modification to the hood.

As you can see in the picture the motor might be to big for the GT OEM hood, if that's the only problem then i'll just get the GT4 hood. Does this sound correct to any one .

Thanks for every one's input

yea the gt4 hood does allow for you to have a .5" or so heigher clearance just by eyeballing drocay's hood
but you will have to think about the added cost and the pro's con's of the hood

#1 hood is a few hundered dollars
#2 hood is UNPAINTED
#3 hood will leave a funny gap in front of car when used with stock bumper
#4 get a gt4 front bumper? few hundered
ect........

i guess you could customize your hood by adding 2 scoops like the zyclone has so you can clear the edfc boxs

yeah they did, its just a hood clearance issue --

which means it u modify ur hood or get a gt4 hood than it should not be of any problem -- the EDFC for the 5th gen celica or the one for the gt4's will work

i just recently installed the Tein SS kit -- unfortunately my strut mounts have gone out and making knocking sounds in the rear - so i will be replacing them with cusco fronts and rears soon - after that i will get the EDFC --

all should be completed by the end of November if shipping won't be too long once i order them.

correction on that -- i will have to get a gt4 hood first - i will post when i have things done

Indeed I did - i ordered the EDFC kit - and I never got around to installing it because I ran out of cash to order the GT4 hood --

just relocated this past month - and rent is now higher - with higher bills - holiday is also around the corner - less money to spend on the celica - so I am not sure when I will have money left over to get the hood and bumper - unless i dip into my 3sgte funds - which i rather not - since performance means more to me than exterior looks

i may end up having to sell it if its just gonna be sitting there - it probably won't be until mid January when i will have more cash to order the hood - girlfriends bday is in february along with valentine - so that really will be bad for the celica
