Just wondering if anyone is doin a 4agze swap, i think goin through the old posts i might have heard something about someone doin it. If someone is id like a heads up on how its goin. I'm havin a real hard time deciding between a turbo or the 4agze swap.

175hp stock (I hope) from the AE101 Levin I'd think. With a pulley you can bring power up to around 200 at the crank. Or am I mistaken?

Jon

Just get aage Black top with a 6-speed. It's only about 5g's for the clip.

Yeah but a clip for a 4agze is around 1500 bucks and you get the benefit of torque, plus the black top and silver tops are overated on their horse power, not to mention the fact the six speed wont work with the celica!

How hard is it to change the 4agze to turbo power, i believe i heard it is expensive, and a pain the ass. Is this true!

ok the black and silver tops are NOT 4agze. those are NA 20V 4age. the ae101 HP is 170, and this has been confirmed by mr2 guys who swapped it into their mk1s.

turboing a 4age, IMO isn't worth it, it's too small at 1.6L

the six speed will work if you have a blacktop ae111 20V 4age and put the tranny in with that. there is no point to switching to a 6 speed on an engine that wasn't designed for it.

Yes, of course your right charlie, sorry i meant that the silver top is over rated, and i had no idea that the 6spd would work in the celica, i thought that there was fitment errors. What would be your choice of 4agze as far as availability of performace and replacement parts, the AE92(85-90), AE92(90-91) or the AE101. I want an engine that i can get parts for easily!

i'd get the ae92, it will be cheaper, and the only difference between that and an ae101 is an upgraded pulley, but i recommend you do an upgraded pulley anyway, so save the expense.

85-89 4agze was in the aw11 (mk1 mr2) not the ae86 or ae92
