Hey 6gc peoples. Pulled the calipers last night, etc but the rotors are rusted on. I read in a haynes manual that you can get 3 bolts to screw into the blank holes in stock rotors to break it away from the ... whatever the thing is that it connects to. does anyone know: a) the exact size of these bolts or b)another way to acccomplish removing them? Thanks! |

Thanks! found my own answer - the bolts for the clamps of the tie rod ends on a volkswagon fit perfectly. FYI not sure what size that is off to get messy - later |

you wouldn't happen to be replacing your old backplates and internal e-brake components, would you?

if you're not reusing the rotors, just smack them with a heavy hammer to knock them loose off of the hub. 2 or 3 hard hits and they'll come right off usually.

hes talking about the threaded bolt holes in the rotor for when your rotor is stuck on

ah ok, well those often dont work. theyre a nice idea, but that narrow bit of thread just tears right out when you put any muscle onto the bolt, ive torn those threads out more than once. just beat it off with a hammer and be done with it, thats alot easier than finding the right bolt and then trying to hold the rotor still while you crank down on it.
