S2000 antenna, auto antenna to S2000 antenna? Options

I'm not sure if the How to Article for the s2000 antenna was done on a car with an automatic antenna. My antennas all messed up. It stays up when the car's turned off and the antenna motor makes a horrible sound. I just bought an s2000 antenna from the Honda Dealership down the road from me for $26. Has anyone here done this conversion onto their car that originally has an auto antenna? I'm having trouble picturing where the metal piece that is clamped onto the screw part of the new antenna goes when I put it inside the antenna mount. Does it just touch wires or metal down there, or do I have to connect it to anything?
