Alright, I bought the BGB for the car, and am planning this month to do a major tune-up on the car. She's gonna hit 150K in a couple weeks here, here's what I got. . . Any other reccommendations ? I did plugs, wires, o2 sensor and spark plugs about 12 months ago, so they should all still be good to go.

1. Timing Belt and Timing
2. Valve Clearance
3. All other belts (power steering & AC, etc)
4. Engine coolant flush and t-stat
5. New air filter
6. Clutch (mine is 95% gone, original)
7. Fuel Filter - Is it the same PITA as in a 5th gen ?
8. dry and fix flooded light
9. install 7th gen leather seats.
10. Coat underbody in anti-rust ****e.
11. bondo body and paint job, install body kit.
12. Water pump

Think that should keep her ticking another 100K miles ? The car smokes on startup a hair which is bad valve seals, anyone think this is worth spending the money to fix this while i'm doing everything else ? I should be able to do all the 11 with my mechanic friend for ~1K. to take off the head you'll need a new HG, reseat the cams, and a whole lot more, which seems like a lot of work for some seals - how necessary do you guys think this is ?

THANKS !

Dr.

You might want to check if you need a new water pump just in case

Added the water pump, it was on my list but didn't type it in

In order to check those gaskets I'd have to take them off, thus requiring all new one's, and if they were bad I'd know it because they'd be leaking or causing low compression right ?

I think there is a way to replace the valve seals without removing the head... you gotta fill the cylinder with compressed air and then pop each spring off replace the seal and rinse and repeat.... but it was a big enough pain in the ass for me to replace them with the head off so its up to you...
