So today me and my gf had to go c her god father to help him with his fun car to go get every thing done to it(breaks, oil change, rad flush, air filter). So this guys had a '78 Corvette, mint condition, owned since new. 25th aniversary, all original, 350, white vynal interior. SOoo hot. Any ways heres the only pic i could i get with my camera phone(batter crapped out). But yea, i havent driven a v8(350 ci) in about a year n a half or so, i completely forgot how much thouse things pull. He let me smoke the tires a bit and he also let me go sideways with it 2:D.
nice eh? and, it gets better. This guy keep it in storage all year long. Takes it out for the occasional drive(put 25km on it per year now). Its got 74xxxkm all original. And the best part, hez leavin it in his will for my gf. And she told me if she gets it i getta play around with it and fixer up:D. |

nah. if any thing i would rebuild the motor, high lift cam, bigger carb, better intake manifold, repaint the block, chrome dressup kit, 3inch dual exhaust with an x pipe. The paint on its pretty good for original. The front part of the nose is chipping and around the passanger side door handel is chipped. The antenna is missing(vandalized when he used to store it outside). interior is alright, but the vynal is cracking a bit, and the shag carpeting is pretty beat up. Its in pretty good shape overall for the amount of time it spent inside and out and considering it had the emblems stollen off it and the antenna broken off 2.

Your experiences with the '78 Vette are quite different than mine. I've had the displeasure of driving two 25th Anniversary cars(one auto, one 4-speed), and I didn't like it much at all. V8 power is nice, but the cars I drove both were uncomfortable and rather cheap-feeling. The '69 427 I drove was a completely different animal. I'd love to have a big block vette of any generation.

chrome dress up kit = pulleys, valve covers, breather valve, airbox, valve cover bolts, airbox wingnut, timming light bracet, timing chain cover, coil cover, distributor cover. It doesnt look to bad if you do it right. We rebuilt a 350 for a truck i did at my highschool, full coustom job. We cut the frame down by 3 feet, relocated the axel and shock mounts, cut and ballanced the drive shaft, rewelded it, made a coustom box, tach moutning plate, hidden gauge cluster, 2 race seats, 5 point harnesses, hand made roll cage, permanent convertable roof, half exhaust with brospeed mufflers off a farrari. But we rebuilt the 350 including head work and we put a chrome dressup kit on it. it looks sooo good. We painted the block with chevy orange paint. chrome with bright orange paint looks good.

What are the Sting Rays, the Stingrays, and the Mako Sharks?!?!?!? Are they all different Corvette models like Celica ST/GT? or what are they? -------------------- |

stingrays and mako sharks are excatly like the gt/st with the celis. Stingrays came with a 350 and the mako sharks where 397 i think. Its like an SS on a chevelle. The came 350 for a base, 396 for a SS, and then now most SS are 454 ohh..fun..

what are you talking about. stingray I think ended production in 76, while the bodystyle stayed in production until 82 (no 83 model) and then 84 was the C4 body. the "mako Shark" was the concept car that the 68-82 car body lines were based on. From 68-69 the vette had a 350(may have been a 327?) or a 427. From 70-72(72 I think) vettes were 350 or 454. From 73-77(77i think) vettes were 350 only with a L72 or a L88 versions (I think) and from 78-82 vettes were the shamed crossfire injected crap 350 that MIGHT have made 150whp on a dyno. I want to say chevy claimed 197 whp or something that year. Either way everyone sees those engines as the biggest jokes since the blue flame six. However, I do think the 78-82 vettes had the best body lines since the 57. All this is from memory, but you guys can feel free to make corrections. (chevy 350's from the 70's to the 85 model were crap. They didn't really wake up until the late model 86 with aluminum heads. |
