"You mean shoot an American?" "Yeah." NG walking around with rifles drawn. Video cameras being taken away from private citizens. News being barred from showing footage of dead bodies floating around. -------------------- |

I made no inference about whose fault it is, the soldiers, their commanders, their commanders comanders, FEMA, the Commander in Chief, the Republicans, the Democrats, the Canadians.
Because I don't know. It was a news posting. Like, holy crap. The hurricane, the flooding, and now this response - from both civilians and NG, warranted or not. The FEMA chairmen stepped down, or was relieved. There's no controversy in that. Just a morbid desire to know more. Because I don't think we ALL get the idea. Don't put words in my mouth. -------------------- |

About.com compiled some dumb quotes from people in high places about the situation.
http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/current...trinaquotes.htm Here are a few: "It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars to rebuild a city that's seven feet under sea level....It looks like a lot of that place could be bulldozed." –House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), Aug. 31, 2005 "You simply get chills every time you see these poor individuals...many of these people, almost all of them that we see are so poor and they are so black, and this is going to raise lots of questions for people who are watching this story unfold." –CNN's Wolf Blitzer, on New Orleans' hurricane evacuees, Sept. 1, 2005 "I also want to encourage anybody who was affected by Hurricane Corina to make sure their children are in school." –First Lady Laura Bush, twice referring to a "Hurricane Corina" while speaking to children and parents in South Haven, Mississippi, Sept. 8, 2005 "I don't want to alarm everybody that, you know, New Orleans is filling up like a bowl. That's just not happening." -Bill Lokey, FEMA's New Orleans coordinator, in a press briefing from Baton Rouge, Aug. 30, 2005 See. No G. Dub quotes. It's not contaversial. It's thought-provoking. Maybe it's the cause of those things I mentioned above. -------------------- |
