hey everyone... Im looking into doing a 3S-GTE swap when I get my celica
I was actually looking at the ST246 254 HP quoted on this site.

Now I called for a quote and I got a quote in Calgary of $1600 CDN dollars for all the stuff for a complete swap. Obviously shippign aint goign to be that good... but still at that price I cant loose or can I? LOL

Anyways My question is does that seem really cheap?
Secondly Anyone who has done that swap what kind of mileage can I expect from the car?

Thanks tonnes

Jay

that is a good deal especially for a 4th gen 3sgte, however i dont believe your goin to get ALL the parts needed for a complete swap unless you buy a clip. also, nobody that i know of has attemped a caldina swap so you would have to figure everything out for yourself. i read the wiring would be a nightmare for that engine. best of luck to you though if you decide to try it. cant comment on the mpg because i havnt done the swap.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I dont know about the 4th gen 3S, but I know the 3rd Gen 3S can get clost to 50MPG even with it modified. I was reading in Sport Compact magazine about this competition they had about the "best supercar" it was loaded with EVO's, skylines, a miata, RX-7's and one 1995 MR2. to make a long story short, on pump gas, this built 3S got 47MPG (if 91octane was used, it was noted.. which it was not on the mr2) They werent sure how, but if I can find the magazine in my room I can list off the modifications it had... also this MPG test was done uphill....

I went and found it. it is January05 edition.. the MR2 has 442HP.. and it actually gets 43.8MPG...it ran a 1/4 mile in 12.69@122MPH... its burnouts are quoted as "burnouts of art"... but yes, it gets high gas mileage. Hope that helps

with the 3s, it all depends on how u drive. if you are just driving normally off boost, the gas milage is pretty close to an NA celica. if you are flooring the gas pedal everywhere u drive at 15psi, it will eat up gas faster, but over all it still isint bad.
