Got hit from behind, Thats what i get for stopping for pedest Options

I was cruising the Downtown Kirkland blvd and stopped infront of that quickie mart for a pedestrian and some girl in a Ford Escort hit me from behind. I get out and was like WTF then i look and was suprised that there wasnt more damage...so shes like oh it looks fine and im like umm yeah we will wait and find out if its fine. I was nice to her cuz i know how it feels to be in here place. but this sucks..this isnt what i needed. My past week has sucked and I didnt need this especially since I was planning on showing at Global Import Car Show...

Then i get home and notice its not just scratches all over the bumper but The bumper is not aligned nor is the middle piece between my taillights.

I like how she thinks it probably will only need some touch up paint.


The thing is that my neck hurts so I dont know what to do...Does whiplash go away in a few days? Is it worth trying to get some money?

of course, i hope you got her license plate # , insurance info, description of vehicle, names of witnesses, and phone #. you never know, damage could end up being more than you think. hope your necks allright, go get it checked out.

I got insurance info and its a red ford escort about a 94. Shes young so she wont be hard to track down

and nope no info on witnesses. Ive never gotten info on witnesses and last time got 3500 dollars.

but my neck hurts so we will see....im not looking to get a lot of cash...

im just more pissed that it happened this week --- cuz my bf broke up with me Thursday and i havent been very happy and then this happens!

don't worry about your neck it's gonna be sore you have whiplash...and yes it does go away in a few days, all whiplash is pulled muscles in the neck.....it will go away in a few days. and im sorry to hear about the accident im glad to hear your ok besides the whiplash thing.

damn, rough week, dont you hate how all hell breaks loose at the same time? ya but definitely get your neck checked out if it still hurts, i rearended someone before not very hard and they all went to hospital, i was like WTF, it was 10 mph max.

Yeah this was about 30mph. I think ill hit up the doc on Tuesday just to make sure so then its on record that i did go!

My dad said that her isnurance company is known for settling pretty easily!

A cop was in the parking lot right next to where it happened and didnt do anything and i know he had to have heard it..pedestrians around the way did!! my parents said cops hating getting involed with fender benders cuz its more paper work!

normally in an accident, you have to call the cops and get them to write up a report... you should have called the cop over.

You still should have a cop come over. Its only covering you. If this women lied abou the accident you would be a in a tough spot. Her word against yours with no witnesses. But if a cop went to the accident scene afterwards, a report would be made up.

er.. what insurance info are you supposed to get? last time someone rear ended me, i just got their name phone # and license plate #... would that be enough? (1st time getting in accident... so no idea) but then i didn't even bother getting the car checked since it was such a low speed accident and i didn't notice anything at all (both cars were white)

elvasohexia...thats not enough. Get his insurance policy number, company number, their name, adress, licence #, phone number, pretty much, if its on their lisence or on their insurance card, write it down.

back to the topic at hand.
That sucks 2 hear nat. I would say take it 2 a body shop, see how much it will cost to repair, get them 2 check it out(ur rebar, bumper cover, bumper, compression pads, and that center section). My buddy was drivin his cav some guy reversed into him when he was in nutral and his car got bumped and hit a pole and cracked his front lip. he got it checked out, the whole lip had to be ditched, foam under the bumper cover had to be replaced and lip repainted. And about ur neck. it depends on how hard u were hit. When i was in my accident i was duin roughly 50km/h(30mph give or take) and the guy hit me duin close to 100km/h(60mph) and i braced my self and i was hurtin for about 3 weeks. Its comin up on a month since the accident and my neck still hurts a bit at times. my gf got minor whiplash and she was hurtin for about a week n a half. Tell ur insurance company about it. They will usually give u coverage for lost wages and pay for massage thearapy, and i mean common. Who would turn down free money and free massages? Hope ur feelin better though nat, and hopefully the celi is ok 2. Dont put off gettin in contact with ur insurance company and gettin checked out.

Two things you should remember iin case this happens in the future… if you KNOW you are not at fault always call the police so there is a report on file taking statements from both parties. Also if you had even the slightest injury of any kind you tell the cop and you go to the hospital in an ambulance. That goes on the record that you were injured and that you required medical attention. In small claims court the other party can allege that you may have suffered these injures from something else since you showed no sign of injury at the time of the incident. What you need to understand is that people who know what they are doing will pull every string they can to win a proceeding in court to get out of paying. You are lucky that she hit you from behind the majority of those cases rule in favor of the person who was hit. Just some info for the future. Sorry this is so long analyzing potential cases is what I do. Just be glad I didn’t put this into a Memorandum of Law.

a few things also to consider... if you had a major whiplash then you should get your car checked out... it might look ok on the outside but you should also check underneath and behind the bumper something might have cracked or went out of alignment

Your neck will proly be sore for a day or two.. But then again when i got in my wreck in my bimmer.. liek hitting the side of a car at 45, i was fine until the next day i couldnt move. Then my neck and back still hurt to this day, but sence i couldnt make it to court in gay ass Nj, cause a hurcaine he got off free.. basterd crapy ass drivers in NJ..

The last accident I was in was similar to this one. I was rammed so hard from behind and there was only a few scratches so I decided to not call the cops. But my neck and back did hurt for a couple of days.

But definitely get your car checked out. I got told I needed to, and never did. That f'd me over in the long run.
