Ok.. well I had an older post, saying that I replaced my front brakes, and sence then I have been having a few problems. A: I broke off a stud so im running on 4 lugs. Which hasnt been at all a problem in the past. B: When im driving above 50ish My stearing wheels is gettign intermitin shaking. I know I already need an alignment, but didnt want to do that if im going to need to replace barings ro somthing.
I checked the tire pressure and im all good. I need to still finish the rear brakes, cause i have not replaced them yet. The tire ware is normal, so im a little bit lost. I didnt get this shake before the brake change, and after i have gone back twice and made sure everything was on tight and right. It feels like my wheel needs to be balanced again like the last time i did, but why would that change from just pulling it off and putting it back on? Any help or comments are welcome Thanks Doug This post has been edited by Digndoug: Aug 15, 2005 - 11:35 AM |

Check for abnormal tire wear. The wear pattern on the tires can be a good clue about what is wrong.

Not a lot, but enough to notice its not 100% flush, or smooth. QUOTE(jgreening @ Aug 15, 2005 - 11:54 AM) Check for abnormal tire wear. The same thing happen to me in the Jetta !!!
I put new pads and rotors in the front and back and at about 50-60ish I would get a vibe in the steering wheel that I didn't get prior. After months of being pissed about having what I thought was warped/uneven rotors I discovered that when I took one of the front tires off one of the small weights (for balance) had come off. Check all of the wheels to see if one is missing the weight. It should be noticable where it should be. -------------------- |
