I don't get the whole pollution thing, let's compare imports to police cars and see who causes more pollution. (These are stock specs, remember police vehicles are modded also)

1997 Celicas: 7.9 tons per year (2.2) 6 tons per year (1.8)
1999 Civic Si: 6.2 tons per year
1995 MR2 Turbo: 8.2 tons per year
1998 Eclipse GSX: 8.0 tons per year

2002 Crown Victoria: 9.5 tons per year
2003 Chevy Impala: 8.3 tons per year
2003 Chevy Tahoe: 12.1 tons per year
2001 Chevy Camaro: 9.1 tons per year

Now remember that yes imports can be modded, but most police vehicles aren't stock either.

BTW let's not forget that factories can easily put out more pollution in one week than all the vehicles on the road combined do in a month.

Thanks for the info man. I totally agree with all your guys comments, its really lame that the muscle cars in CA produce way more smog than all the imports combined, and they dont even have to go though smog test. Where if I put a header on my car, it may make an iota more exhaust, and that's illegal. Maybe CA could clean up its air more if they taxed larger SUVs an emissions tax and that money could go to cleaning the air, where smaller economy cars are void from the fee. Also, I think that CA, especailly in the Los Angeles area, could greatly benefit from a good mass transit system, like a train or subway. This would help with emissions, traffic, and help to bring in money to this bankrupt state. The autorities are picking on the import scene because the state needs more money, and I think that that is the only true concern.

I understand the laws aginst street racing and speeding and even some of the smog stuff, but why are there so many bs rules for stupid things, I sit behind big desal trucks all the time, I doubt they could ever pass my smog test, yet allone all the semies and stuff that bump out thick black smoke, why is it so rong to be original, how dumb would you be if you though blue washer nosel lights where an emergancy car. (and if someone did whats the worst that would happen, they go the speed limit?)

you would think that since there are so many people out there that mod there cars, or try to, a politition would mention something about changing the rules to be more realistic.
