Does the remote for the alarm have to be made for the alarm. Or can any remote be programmed to any alarm as long as it has the same functions?

Any replacment remote will work as long as it was made by the same brand / company. You just have to find the code on you alarm and use it to program you new remote. What kind of alarm is it?

That's not true, at least for most of the mainstream alarm companies. The replacement remote has to not only be the same brand, but also has to be compatible with your alarm's model. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...
