Bought the bulbs planning to change the colour of my gauge only to find that there are only two sockets for the bulb...
The fuel level, water temp part of the gauge is completely different and uses 3 small bulbs instead of the same bulb that is used in the middle and upper right. Has anyone done it on an automatic before? There are 3 bulbs in place and 2 of them seem to have a 4mm base while the other one is 5mm pic of bulbs: http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/3497/picture0304mj.jpg This post has been edited by soven: Sep 16, 2005 - 9:09 PM |

You must have the guage cluster with the indicator for which gear you're in. The US automatics didn't get that style cluster. The bulb looks like a 74 but you'd probably want to check to make sure.

What would I need to look for. This post has been edited by soven: Sep 19, 2005 - 9:30 PM |

After some searches, I came across someone posting in CelicaUK that the smaller bulbs are #74 LEDs and the bigger one is custom and he hasnt been able to find a solution for it.
Someone with an Auto must have done it, reply pls. |

For people that actually read threads I make.
I have gone ahead and ordered #74LEDs . the small ones are indeed 74s and the slightly bigger one isnt an issue, just need to make the 74 fit in it and not fall out. I got these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...me=STRK:MEWN:IT to compliment the 5 led bulbs (item number: 8004207233 ) Quite dissappointed with the brightness of the #74 and it looks like I would have to find an alternative. Will post a pic of the speedometer later. pic: http://img389.imageshack.us/img389/1185/picture0431vm.jpg This post has been edited by soven: Oct 2, 2005 - 4:55 AM |

Wow that looks like caca. Doesn't even look like the 74s are working. Are you sure they're in right? Some of the LED bulbs out there are polarized and only work one way.

Yea, the middle one isnt' working but still , the 74s are too dim compared to the 5led bulbs I used.
I have ordered some piaa bulbs to try thanks to the help of "Project95St202" and will report back when it is all done |
