91-95. the turbo has 200 HP, but can easily be pushed way higher. the NA version has the 5sfe, 135 HP.

Both MR2's are freakin fast.

Just think of a Celica that is mid-engined rear wheel drive and can corner as well as a NSX with enough effort.

Yea MR2s are hella sweet!
They got the SW20 engine that is basically the same as a 3s-gte minus like 5-10hp i think. But way lighter than a celica, plus it's rear wheel drive. So that just makes it like a thousand times more fun.

SW20 is the chassis code. and yes these cars are fast. sometimes I wish I had bought one, but then I look outside and I smile.

hm... I dont think the mr2s are fast at all. The mr2s in oz come with the 3sge engine. and its not that much faster than the celica. My girl has a 99 and we have had a few races.

actually the mr2 weighs more than a celica. but the fact that it is rwd makes a large difference in launching.

mr2 and celica are for handling

the supra is for dragging while it still handles like a dream, it is heavier than the other two and the longer wheel base works against it.

i wouldnt mind a turbo mr2(except for those ugly pop ups). as for the NA, let me say this, if a car comes in turbo form, dont waste your money on the NA version. now the supra is a little different, the only difference in the supra NA and TT engines is the size of the head gasket(but there are other differences like the brakes).

Supra's are the epitomy of Toyotas ingenious hive mind.

A quote from Motor Trend "The Toyota Supra outhandles the NSX and performance that rivals the Ferrari Testarossa"

Not bad for a car that only costs $42,000$ (and that was in 93.5!)

If supras are rice.then im the budda guy on the rice bags!

MR2 wasn't meant for drag racing....well actualyl it could be. The MR2 stands for MID-Engine Runabout 2-Seater. The original MR2 was created by Lotus then abandoned and given to Toyota. The MR2 are fast and mid-engined heritage is inspired from Lotus track racing. IMHO I think Toyota still has some deals with Lotus secretly...I mean come on....if you compare the New Toyota MR-S and Lotus Elise they looks too much alike.

The Celica was build for different reasons. Rally was a main point with the GT-4 and the GT and ST built to make money off people like us tongue.gif.

The Supra was created as Toyotas Flagship....it's super car...it's OMG you just burned an exotic costing 3 times more car.

What I just typed was completely stupid and something a newb would write...iono why im writing it...bottom line: any car can be built for any purpose.

Thats right any purpose.......imma go build me a Geo Metro with a 13B rotory engine swap now biggrin.gif

I just don't like the look of MR-2's. They're like a Toyota CRX wannabe with power. I like little cars, but MR-2's are pushing it.

oh, I agree completely. Have you ever sat in a CRX? it's tha most crap! I would never have one of thoses cars. The only older honda I would own is a 93 SI hatch. They will haul with aabout 3k in work. I'm talking 12-13's.
