I'm driving home from the med school library, and I need to take a left turn on a 4-way intersection (the turn goes onto a 2-lane road)...I'm coming down a hill so I just brake modestly hoping the light will turn green soon (and it does, about 3 seconds before I reach it). I take the turn relatively faster than normal (I hate braking) and get close to a car that had been waiting at the light beforehand, hoping it takes the right lane so I could take the left. It does, and I just keep going.
Meanwhile, the kid driving the car looks over all dramatically and his passenger is making some fuss, and they seemingly try to get past me. It's a 45mph road, but usually everyone drives at 55-60 and I only rarely saw cops on it even though I use it almost daily...so I said "funk dat!" and gun it...I was already at 3rd going around 3100rpm when I finished the turn, so I take it conservatively to 4500 and shift to 4th, thinking that by now they're probably right beside or passing me ...they're only at my tails though. I keep going until I reach around 80 mph, they're still behind my taillights, so I was like "this is retarded, I don't want to get pulled over and charged with reckless driving over bull**** like this" so I brake to around 60 and wait for them to pass me. I was expecting a ricer fly-by or something, so I wasn't surprised when they went past me. The part (other than 'racing' a mercury sable) was that they changed into my lane and started repeatedly braking in front of me...I didn't think they were trying to block me, but I didn't take any chances and just kept going at 60 until I was right at their bumper and then changed lanes (of course I made sure the lane was clear long beforehand) ...meanwhile they turned left into some residential area. I don't condone 'street racing' and always make a point of criticizing it, I did this mainly because I was pissed at that guy trying to get past me, curious if my car could actually stand its own (hell, when you have 105 hp stock you don't expect to), and the road is relatively clear and very wide, with 2 lanes both ways and a large middle turning lane. Anyways, I complimented my celica st after it was done. This post has been edited by Mage: May 3, 2003 - 11:42 PM |

hah....the old thing that I hate...when they are infront of u an there's 2 cars that take both lanes an the other car goes slow infront of u on purpose. That happn to me in the middle of nowhere coming from SF to Diego. Stupid old ass accord with a exhaust, big ass greddy logo an like 5+ ppl. My car waz just me, a friend, an few thingz we brung bak from SF. I went to the off-side road an gunned it in I think 4th gear (very slow gear indeed). Then I "raced??" them (they couldn't pass meh) an then when I got to another slow car in that other lane...I'd slow down an give them a taste of their own fawk up~. Later they exited somewhere far behind...

i do that to people that tailgate me but this one time i was driving with a total of 650lbs of people in my car and I SIGNALED and lane changed in front of this girl in a civic. so then she high beams me and goes to cut me off, of course i try not to let her and i actually get ahead of her by a few car lengths, then this slow van ends up infront of me and she boxes me in and my friend in the back laughed and said i got owned by a girl in a civic. so at that time i was really pissed, i was in the left lane and i cut left into the opposite direction, passed the van and left that girl way behind, she tried to catch up but but gave up after a few seconds. now let me add that this was going straight up hill where i could see all the way up the road and no one was comming. but boy did it scard the **** outta my friends "ANTHONY, HOLY **** THIS IS THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!" i was proud of my car, lol but then over spring break i raced this one crx and that made me love my car even more. I like your driving Mage. I get this $hit all the time. Back in those days I really cared much about winning and not losing. But after having my own fun it just sorta died out on me. My friends have told me that i've been ultra safe and slow since...I tell them in return "safety first".
Hata talked about how a car in front of you is goin slow while on the other lane there's another car blockin you(i think ), in cases like this I will go wild!!! Brakkeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Vrommmmmmmmmmmm Ac-el-er-ate |

heh holy **** man, wrong lanes -UP- hill is a no no, because you can't see anything beyond the apex. Glad nobody got hurt, but when people are in my car, I drive ultraconservatively... getting myself hurt/killed is fine, but I don't want my mistakes/foolishness to hurt someone else This post has been edited by Mage: May 4, 2003 - 8:09 PM |

Hi,
Hate to rain on the party, but I thought I would share this photo with you all. (See profile.) In Australia we have a saftly catch phrase that goes 'Speed Kills' althought I used to say 'Speed Thrills'....... I saw this image and I think twice about where I am, who's with me in the car & what the conditions on the road when I put my foot down. The wreck (in which the occupants did die) is the same colour as My Celica.....scary! A Gen 6 is a terrible thing to waste. Cheers |

One day after my friends and I have gone uphill driving for a few times until i did not want to take my baby up there anymore, I shared rides with a fellow friend of mine. We had walky-talkies in hand and all...As we climbed up and up and to a turn where the front view bout 80% blocked. His car started to slid to the left lane and it looked like we are gonna fall down if this continues. All of our friends ahead of us made it pass the 4Runner, some almost hit it, unfortuneately the collision was head on. My friend was at fault. Even though we both had seat belts on. When we were hit I literally flew! My shinbone hit the glove box somehow? So therefore i got injured. I wasn't able to walk for a while. But now it's all good even though the mark is still visibly there...

Its nice having a fast car. I love it. When I first got my celica tho, I was just plain stupid. I thank God that I didn't get into any trouble. I pissed a few people off (had my life threatened twice, and my car threatened once) but that didn't bother me though. A few weeks ago though, one of my friends, in a 300zx, was trying to pass a lady on a straight stretch. He had just gone out to go around, when he saw an oncoming car. He overcorrected back, and totalled the car. Luckily he was only in the hospital a day, nothing permanant. His cars totalled though, and with a nice car like that it sucks.I just got fraid, and I don't really want to do that to my celica, so I've cut. I used to go 120mph on the way to school on the same stretch he got himself wrecked. I'm more conservative though now, but I kinda miss the fun I had. go figure.

Yesterday my friends and I were taking a 6 car carivan to Indiana (we're in IL near Chicago), and since I didn't know where I was going, I settled back into the 2nd spot and followed my friend. Well, there's rediculous amounts of tollways in IL. I don't know if you have them other states, but it costs me $2 to drive down to college. And we finally hit one. Well everyone had IPASS which lets you take them at 40 mph, and I had to stop, wait in line and throw some quaters in the automatics.
So, they were so far ahead of me I couldn't see them. But I gunned it, changed lanes infront of the 4/5 spots, and was contested for 2nd, but I got it. Anyway, it really was as badass as I like to make it sound. One of my cousins who lives in Hawaii is a big tuner, when I visted I saw his ghetto riced out Honda with unpainted, mounted, front body kit, and saw his Fast and the Furious demo video. I didn't know too much about cars, but he told me that one of his friends was killed doing 100 on the freeway. It wasn't wet, it wasn't nothing. Just turned too fast, lost control, flew into the side, died on impact, 16 years old. |
