Just wondering what you guys think a turbo 4age (4agte?) would hold. I'm in the process of the 4age swap and am going to turbo it next summer. Interested in opinions!! Thanks!!! smile.gif

On a stock silvertop I wouldn't run more than 5-7 lbs. What do you plan to do as far as engine management for your turbo setup?

ditto i wouldnt go over 6 psi on t3 turbo you can swap the 4agze rods in there stronger but for more info go to club4ag they have 2 stickies on the silvertop over there. i would go with a smaller turbo to get some bottom end back

The silvertop's rods are just as strong as the AE101 4A-GZE rods...it's the high compression that prevents high boost levels.

I remeber reading that over there (club4ag) isnt the compression on a Silver top 10.5:1
i found a few places that have 5 valve pistons in lower comp like 9.0:1 and lower
but there spendy like $400+ not including rings and you need a manifold very hard to find one probably just have to have one custom made

Yep, it's 10.5:1 on the silvertop. Many people use the 4A-GZE pistons and either have them flycut(I think that's the word), keeping the motor non-interference, or just leave them as is, turning the motor into an interference motor should the timing belt break.

For a manifold, the ports are the same as the 16V 4A-GE...the two outside bolts are just in a different place I believe. So a B-series manifold like yours would work if it were welded to a 20V flange.

i looked back in all my fav links and yep you have to get a set of 4agze pistons and take or send them somewhere to have the 5th valve slot cut

I was thinking of going full open throttles. Its something that you don't really see everyday in a car. Then again, you will rarely see a JDM engine in a 6G celica.
