Ok, I was setting up for a sound competition for tonight, just doing a test run for a big competition in the city on the 1st, and well about 10-15 mins into running, I go to pop my hatchback and I am greeted with deafining rattles...(I blew my left sub) this is the second set of MTX's I've went through in the past year, I'm running all Apline Type R inside(which are always kickin some nice beats), but the MTX's aren't holding out on the low end... the 6000;s are nice, but they can't take much abuse for lon periods of time. I don't want to go with 8000's because they are too power hungry. I don't want to add a crazy new set of 12's, that will make my system sound like all bass. I like the way it sounds now, it's all evened out, but the subs just can't handle the power. what should I run with? right now I'm running a mono 6500D amp pushing the 2 6000 12's. I want something that will take abuse, will sound just as good or better, and is not power hungry.
I have 1000w cap, and I'm about to get my altenator rebuilt with a high performance coil, so I'm not afraid to try something new, I just don't want to take away from the overall suond quality. Please give me some input guys, I need to get this together before the 1st of June, so I can win some money to get the exterior and engine work done to my car...

Get JL 12W3 and you should be very happy. They don't require that powerful of an amp and can take a beating for long periods of time. The Kicker amps that I had in my car over heated but the subs never gave me a problem. I hit 158.6 DB with four JL 12W3s and two Kicker Impulse Amps (300 watts each). Unforunately my system got stolen.

yea i have 2 jl audio w7's and 2 planet audio 2250 amps. they are 3 ohms so its about 1300 or so per sub. JL is known not only for monster bass but also music and sound quality.

I used to have w3's and w6's both are good for the money. But the W7's are one of the top 5 subs out there right now if not at the top.

Last year I hit 168.7 with those subs. And they were brand new. I'm sure that I could hit louder now. Oh and last year I only had one of those amps. So now two of them and two 2 farad caps and like you said the recoiled altenator I will hit louder.

So either:

1. JL Audio W3
2. JL Audio W6
or
3. JL Audio W7.

also some good subs are the kicker ones. either square or sound. the L7's are really really good. I had one when they first came out. and damn. i just had the one 12 in a small ass box and a clarion 1000D amp. it was nice. like 150 or so.

Well, I don't have a car, so I don't have audio yet. But I wish you the best of luck on your competition, that way you can hook up the rest of your car. So, good luck! smile.gif
