My friend comes to me says hey I want to start getting my car to go quicker and participate in some races. I say alright lets see what we have to work with... 97' Ford probe 4cyl... yeah not much, we started with the usual CAI, 2.5" cat back, high flow cat, headers from probeaddiction.com, and MSD ignition. It pulled alot harder than stock but I was never impressed with the feel or handling so a dyno run was never even worried about. So we scrapped that project for a turbo DSM talon tsi... now the story begins..
first off... the car the piston... #4 the head... All this was caused because of the intake cam jumping timing because of a bad mechanic and a driver that didnt pay attention... I am the new mechanic and will keep a watchful eye on this new motor. So now im looking at a motor swap and possibly a left over block to build with .20" over pistons. -------------------- 94' ST Coupe - 5sfe Motor swap and brake swap.

so i would have liked to put an evo motor into the DSM being as both fit 4g63 motors but the evo setup im told faces the other way timing belt to the passenger side as opposed to the talons on the driver side. anyways looking for another turbo 4g63 now hope to swap out motors soon!

nah the first gen dsm motors are built as a rock..most people that cry bout the dsms owning them are the usual 2nd gen which sucks balls...they came with everything wrong..crank walk n such..the only problem wit them might be the maintence but its the same as just like ne other turbo powered car..

Yeah the Evo motor won't fit in the Talon (becuase the wonderful engineers at Chrysler-Mitsubishi figured they would screw with people), i'm running into the same issues swapping a 4g into a Lancer, you could consider running a Lancer 5 speed but it might not bolt to the chassis correctly. |

yeah not interested in giving up my AWD drivetrain for that evo motor... im sourcing a 4g63 long block and ill build the old block eventually with some forged .20" over pistons, what rods would you recommend for 4g? i would like to get pauter but i dont know for sure.

Pauter is the strongest but it's the most expensive usually, if want a good set at a low price go with Eagle they rate 700hp where Pauters rate 1000hp but how many 1000hp AWD DSMs (ex. Stealth/3000GT) are riding around (i've only seen one, it was a Talon).

its weird, some of thouse talons go sooo easily. but others last for ever. My buddy george has a white talon turbo like that one, and his is at 234xxxKM and hez runnin at 12 psi daily driven. I guess its all how u drive the car. if ur gonna b revvin the crap out of one like it looks like the old owner of that dsm u got there 3s, then its not supprising its that bad.

sounds like a great motor but 750 is WAY too much im looking for like 200-300$ for just the long block i have no need to buy another turbo, manifold, intake, and all that BS.

Yeah that's a newer 4G, the FWD tranny from the Lancer/Mirage will bolt right up, I was talking about the older 4G where the pullys face the driver side.
