- The Oil Catch can is used to reduce the oilvapours from going into the air intake charge.
- The oil vapours will contiminate the intake charge by mixing with the air and fuel that are used to create combustion. - This would reduce burn efficiency and increase detonation risk in both turbo or non-turbo cars - As contamination usually occurs before peak torque, it would affect power in both turbo and n/a set-up -------------------- 98 ST204 ZR - Black Beauty - Roaming the streets of Sydney 73 TA22 LT - Tiffany Blue - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 75 TA22 LT - Snow White - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 77 RA28 LT - Flubber Green - Mint Classic Weekend Cruiser 94 MX-5 NA8 Clubman - Red Racer - Looking for corners WIP Project: 69 RT40 Corona, 2nd WIP Project: 66 RT40 1600s Corona 86 Corona RT142 - Daily Driver 6GC 4 Life Baby!!! |

the can is there to catch excess oil blow by that can happen on some turbo cars. normally that oil just shoots back into the intake and onto the turbo. if its a lot of blow by it can turn into blue smoke coming out of your tail pipe. installing a catch can just helps keep things nice and clean. it wont help preformance in any way tho.

i guess it depends on how much blowby you are getting out of the valve cover. normally, you shouldnt really need it for anything. i dont have one of my car, the oil just goes right into the turbo intake. its only like a table spool full in there at most, after months of driving.

i replace my line from the valve cover to the throttle body with some red silicone stuff and after 7000 kms i took it off and looking inside and it was still really clean.
