QUOTE(GotToyota @ Nov 10, 2007 - 5:04 PM) 2 bar, you should be somewhere around the mid 400's if you have an efficient motor. BTW, it's 5S-FTE. -Matt It's a 5sfe block with a 3sgte head -------------------- 1997 Limited Edition Vert (((SOLD))) |

Nah I believe its capable of more @ 2 bar. @ Fensports site they give the GT30-40 a range up to 580-600bhp. I believe 450bhp is a good number.

Well the result is here. Not quite what i wanted but it will do and there are a few reasons why.
First up we only went to 16lb of boost. The reason for this is coz it started to wheelspin on the dyno. The feel of the touqe is just "oh my god". To stop the spinning im going to have to put in a LSD. Something i knew i would have to do sooner or later. hehehe. Anyway. result.... 312whp@6500rpm This post has been edited by ice23q: Nov 27, 2007 - 2:58 PM -------------------- 312whp with more to come.... |

Ohh and can we see some vids of this thing??? Don't take it the wrong way, but I think it's rude to ask something like that. It truly irks me when some n00b asks another member, "can you pls make me a list of the things needed to turbo my *insert engine code* and also pls a price list and where to buy them. thx." These people, myself included, did their homework, and most things were trial and error, costing a lot of money, sweat, and tears. I think it's unfair to ask someone such a thing, when the person invested so much time, energy, and money with little or no help at all. There are many, many useful posts with (I'm not exaggerating) every single little thing piece of info needed to start and complete a project. Only thing required is reading a lot of old threads, because not everything is condensed in one place. Think of it as a scavenger hunt of knowledge. It's more fun and gratifying. The hardest part has been done for you already. You just need the money for the parts and the time to install them. The search here works great. Use it (not you directly, but to people in general) to your advantage. Again, this is not to be taken the wrong way, and I'm sure at least someone will share my sentiments on this. -------------------- |

I actully agree with you Oobe. It would be nice to have a 5sgte how to but like you say Research is the key here. Its taken me almost 2 YEARS to get where i am today. If there was a how to i would have done this in no time at all and wouldnt know half the reason s why it had to be that way. I had BASIC engine know how when i started this project and 100's of hours of reading later i can pull down my own race engine.
Anyway....... I hope that this thread will help anyone mad enough to give it ago. -------------------- 312whp with more to come.... |

Exactly. That's what I'm talking about. Hell, I started gathering my parts in late 2002. I didn't know ANYTHING. A childhood friend of mine, who was the one that enticed me to turbocharge the Celica (he turbocharged his '97 Mirage years ago, so he knew a lot already) was the one that told me what the function of each component was, and what to get. I was so confused and overwhelmed at first. It wasn't until mid 2003 that I had a basic understanding of everything. The ONLY help or piece of info I got from the Internet to help me was from Kostas (96 Turbo ST on celica.net), who turbocharged his ST prior to mine, and he was the one that told me that I needed fish tank check valves on the MAP sensor line so it wouldn't read boost. There were no other online write-ups or members with experience turbocharging the 7A-FE, so it was all a mistery and rumor was it could only hold 7 PSI. I think I was the first one in here to break that urban legend and show proof.
Anyway, EVERYTHING else was trial and error with this engine. I cracked a piston ringland at 3 PSI because I didn't know that 550cc injectors were too big for the ECU to be able to control. It shut down the #3 piston, so it leaned out and injured it. Compression was 220-220-80-220. I ran it until the last day of December of 2003 broke like that (it smoked extremely bad, but it ran perfect), and we rebuilt the engine in one night. By then, I knew so much compared to six months prior, it was ridiculous. I have shared A LOT of my experiences here in this forum, for people to benefit from it, and save A LOT of money, pain, and suffering. I don't keep anything to myself selfishly just because I spent the money and trouble. I pass the knowledge on to other people. That's why we're an online community. It's beyond me how new members have the nerve to open a new thread to ask for a compiled list of parts to buy, and a How-To write-up, when the information here is huge and the question has been answered many, many times before. I didn't have NOTHING to help me out, yet, they already have this beautiful website with many experienced people sharing their knowledge and willing to help. They are, however, not willing to answer the same questions over and over again, and DEFINATELY, not willing to write a complete How-To. What, do you want us to buy the parts for you and install the system and take it to the dyno? -------------------- |
