QUOTE(boosted_K2 @ Oct 4, 2005 - 8:15 AM) QUOTE(lagos @ Oct 4, 2005 - 2:47 AM) once you go turbo, you never go back! i disagree. after you own a turbo vehicle and mess with it enough, you learn to respect NA speed and power much much more. Period.... I want a turbo car as a daily driver for sure (best would be Turbo Diesel ) Cuz of the torque it has.... But for me actually the Weekend/Fun car has to be N/A witch screams till 8k RPM without a stop.... -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

QUOTE(Coomer @ Oct 4, 2005 - 4:49 AM) I dunno...I've driven a few turbocharged cars, and although they all would smoke my car, there's something magical about revving to 8,000 RPM and the accompanying high-RPM power and incredible throttle response. QUOTE(doGGy @ Oct 4, 2005 - 2:35 PM) you learn to respect NA speed and power much much more. im with them on this one... imo-turbo high power & maintenance |

BUT:
my first time in a turbo car was in a 95 civic coupe w/ b16a (del sol) w/ a rev hard turbo built by in-line (best honda/acura shop in no.va) anyways that **** was CrAzY! but after a while i decided that i dont want that much horsepower/torque on fwd. i dont like driving str8 all the time. i like turns, which is why i dont want my car to push while accelerating in a turn. which is why most cars over 250hp are either awd/rwd. so its either way actually |

a turbo car will do anything you want it to. you can still take turns, rev high, and have a good power band. the wheels only break loose when u want them too, its all about your right foot....and dont forget that a 3sgte has a 7.3k redline. also, you have total control over how much power the car makes just by changing the boost.

my dream combo is hopefully what i will end up with when i graduate... a NA V-6 Hardtop MR2 and an unmolested off the lot silver EVO 9... if it comes down to it, the V6 MR2 would be dropped for the 9... in all honesty the turbo car is absolutely wicked but like i said, you appriciate NA torque and linear throttle response for racing.

I've been in a few turbos and wasn't impressed with either one: An '87 LeBaron turbo coupe and a '96 Eclipse GS-T. I thought my V6 Chevy Beretta at the time felt faster than the Eclipse.

I.d never be without a turbo now.
Any high powered engine, be it turbo or NA is gonna require alot of maintanence. Other than the mods I have done, the Celi hasnt required any more maintanence than the Civic I used to own, and dosnt cost so much more to run. |

imo...turbo cars arent as high maintenance as people think...but then again i baby the crap out of my car and hardly go into boost so my oil doesnt need changing that often lol other than the usual checkup every weekend to make sure theres no vac/boost leak and this and that...i wouldnt say my turboed car is that high maintenance bboy -------------------- ..(formerly daily driven) 3S-GTE powered celica currently set @ 12psi.. |
