i know chances are i might not find much info on here but hey just asked before i go looking on others sites....
anyone done/thought about / thinking about doing a rebuild on the 5s with 11:1 compresion pistions .. i know you'll need to upgrade the fuel system and a piggy back system or even better a stand alone ... but this is just more of my board at work thinking .. -------------------- |

That would be sweet, but the FE head is so restrictive for building a N/A motor. Does anyone make high-compression pistons for the 5S-FE?

give it a shot, I'd just port the hell out of the 5sfe head. That's a bit more economical than the alternative.

macavely, i thought you were going to turbo your car?
if your are, i think a high comp isn't a good idea. Isn't a lower comp better for turbo's? (like it can withstand more boost without big internal upgrades?) -------------------- PROJECT 6TH GEN

I think he wanted a supercharger before, but I think now he's looking into building an all-motor celica.

What about just plaining down the head and doing a port and 3 angle head job? I'm debating doing this over Thanksgiving or Christmas break. I think I've got a busted headgasket, so it's a good oppertunity.

I personally don't think it's worthwhile unless you do the whole shebang... head job, cams, intake/exhaust, tuning. Simply raising compression can just cause problems without proper managment... and can do next to nothing without properly taking advantage of the increased compression...

If you want to do an NA build easy2001x on mr2oc has put a 3rd gen 3SGE head on a 5SFE block, so I guess it is a 5SFE now...
http://mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=132687 great read. |

if you raise the compression, you will forever be a slave to the 91 octane gas.

I have intake and exhaust. So, if I got head work done, all I would need is cams and tuning? These things wouldn't nessisarily half to be done at once though, right? When you say tuning, do you mean stand alone, or what? I can see how cams with definately help, but I don't see them as nessisary. -------------------- Live Free, Be Happy
