ok, well my car has picked up a bad habbit. I think the grand prix it parks next to must be a bad influence.... Anyways, when the car is unlocked, and i use the door handle to open the car, it locks itself. It will open about 3/4 of an inch and then it wont go any farther. even if the door is open, and i pull up on the door handle, you can watch the lock on the inside flip fowards. the only way i can get into my car is to hold the key turned in the lock while I pull up on the door handle. has anyone ever heard of something like this happening? I did find a nice feature about the locks though, If I unlock the door, then turn the key to unlock again, it will unlock the passenger door as well.

The same thing happend to my passenger door handle (so i dont really care too much). It use to open fine, and then one day i was hitting the unlock button to let my friend in, and i unlocked the door as my alarm locked the door and my friend pulled the handle at the same time. Then my locks went nuts and they were locking and unlocking really really fast, i had to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Now, when you open the pass. side it locks itself b4 it opens. Hows that for a weird story?

where would i check? I pulled my door apart today, and as far as i can tell, its something in the white box right behind the outside handle in the back of the door. I cant get that stuff out. I dont see how the relays would get crossed when I've never touched them before. It rained alot before it happened, but i dont know how that would be causing it. Its like the rods are bet and hitting eachother in that white box or something. any advice would be greatly appreciated. Its really a pain to deal with.

if the car auto locks, then its a feature or problem with your alarm. mine will autolock only if i put the key in the ignition and start the car

thats great, but I dont think I have an alarm.... I've never seen anything with the car to suggest it has one, and the original owner never said anything about it having one.

i had that happening on my 4th gen last year when i was hooking up a key-less entry system to it. i somehow got the locks randomly locking and unlocking. it then went nuts and burned/overheated my door handle actuator/coil. my uncle figured out a relay was needed on the power wire of the coil, and so he put it in and all was fine. what i don't get is how it started doing that in the first place cuz it was all fine at first, then went crazy after.

see mine never flips back and forth though, its only when i pull up on the door handle. and if i pull nice and slow, the lock inside flips real slow, so its more like the rods are hooked together, but i took the door panel off and everything looks perfect....
