Well i now need a new tranny! YAY!! And after my tranny goes out all the way, im gonna just fix it all up before i get it back on the road. I need a new computer, tranny, clutch, plugs, wires, distributor, all that good stuff. To my question.. I have a 5s-fe but what year of transmissions will fit in my car? Mine is a 94. Also, will a 91 ecu work in my car? I need to know this stuff as soon as possible. I may have a 91 ecu. Thanks ahead of time guys!!

Well I can get a 94 ecu for about 25 bucks, so I'll prolly go that route. The tranny is a diff. story. The ecu did'nt "go bad". The problem is that its set to cut off at 4,200 rpm's. Not good stuff. How much u gotta have out tha tranny? How many miles?

I wouldn't chance it, I believe the 5SFE changed over in 92 or 93 to the one that was used until they switched over to OBDII. So electronically it may work, but to be on the safe side and not waste money I would just get a 94 GT 5spd ECU from www.car-part.com or any other parts database you can find. Strange though that it just cuts off like that....

EDIT- I forgot to mention the tranny....click that link above for car-part.com and you can search for a used transmission also, and probably get one cheaper than going elsewhere for a rebuild and closer to you as well. Stick with any 94-99 transmission for the 5SFE motor this way it'll go right in and be newer than one from a 5th gen, for example.
