taking off the stock toyota emblems (the toyota symbols.. on front and back of car) and putting them back on..
i know there are two pins.. I was just wondering how hard it would be to remove the toyota symbol and but it back on?... and what i should use to put it back on and keep it on I want to take them off and then paint them black or a dark grey and put em back on -Chris I saw a black car that had powercoated(or somehow painted dark) emblems on it.. looks sweet because you don't have this chrome looking thing standing out on your car...Has anybody done this to their car?.. or maybe it just isnt worth all the trouble.. but anyways.. I think it sould look sweet This post has been edited by Dacoolguychris: Sep 19, 2005 - 12:18 PM |

I had to replace the front one on my car after a wreck, so I can tell you about that. Stock, it came with two posts (one each side, left and right) and had a stick backing around the rest of the emblem. I simply peeled it off and stuck it on. I guess you could try to just pop it off, but you might risk breaking it. I would call your local Toyota dealer and see how much a new one costs. If its not too much, then get a new one in case you destroy the old one getting it off. If you can get the old one off with no problem, then paint it or whatever you want to do to it and you can glue it back on with some good CA or super glue. If you do this, I recomend going to a local hobby shop and getting some CA glue because that will hold for a long time. Hope this helps.

it isn't that hard really. i've already taken mine off. you should buy a can of label & sticker remover. it'll eat away the adhesive in a few minutes. then you use a plastic scraper (i used a metal one though) to pull off the badge. i noticed on mine that the two pins are held with some kind of rubber add-ons on the tips to ensure that is stays locked in. but i don't think that's necessary, just use some 3M double bonding tape (you'll buy them at wal-mart in the hardware section for cheap) and stick it back on. here are some pics of mine that i did just a few days ago.
you will have two holes through the bumper (front) or the hatch (rear). if you wish to leave the badges off you should cover them. use some rubber tar if you're only temporarily keeping them off or use some fiberglass filler and shave it smooth, and then paint it if you choose to leave them permanently. this is a must-have simple mod. i think it makes the celi so much cleaner! i hope this helps. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

no problem.. be aware that the center emblem has 2 pins that go through the hatch, so if you take these out too, you're gonna have to cover them up.
