Are there any companies that import 6th gen GT-4s to the US (maybe something like Motorex does with Skylines) or does anyone have any contacts as to obtain one in good condition. I'd like to eventually race my celica in SCCA events and I could run a lot faster car in a stock class with the GT-4, not to mention the incredible AWD in that type racing. Is this even a feasable idea? Any inside information would help greatly.

actually, if you have a turbo car in SCCA events, that puts you in a whole different category. they aren't going to let a GT4 w/ 250 HP run against an ST. the problem is, the faster the cars, the more experienced the drivers. you won't be able to import a gt4 unless you get it crash tested. that's the big hump to get over, the safety issues. and you can't argue the car was over here, cuz it wasn't, not like the 5th gen all trac. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Thanks for all the info.
I knew that I'd be in a new class, but I don't think that the competition would be as bad than if I'm in the one with a totally different engine in my car. I haven't looked into it too much and I was just curious. As far as the crash testing goes, is it legal to have a car over here if you keep it for "off-road" use and don't drive it on the streets |

This has been mentioned on Celica.net You do not need to get the car crashed tested. I have no idea where this idea orginated from, but you can check NHTSA site and it specifically says that crash testing is not neccessary. |

Yeah, you could just not have it street legal and drive it off of public roads.....its kinda like owning a dragster or something, you couldnt take it through the streets but you could still own it and race it. Only thing is, that wouldnt be much fun to own a GT-4 and not be able to drive it on public roads, that would take alot of the fun out of it. But if you live in a quiet area, im sure you could take it out every once in a while, just dont get pulled over or the cop will be suspicious when he has to walk over to your right window to write you up....haha I mean, um.......always obey the law EDIT- Realisticly, youre best bet would be to just get all the necesary parts to convert your Celica to a GT-4....by the time you import the real thing, get through all the red tape and huge shipping costs involved and what-not, you could have had yourself a street-legal conversion for way less, thats much more practical.
