Hello,
I was just wondering where I can get a good downpipe for doing my 3sgte swap. I've seen alot of crappy ones on ebay, but I want a quality one thats not too expensive. Can I order it from somewhere online? My second question is this: I am planning on using the GT transmission with the 3sgte, and I want to know which clutch would be best for this application? If there is a place that it can be ordered from online, please let me know. Thanks for all the help, Rob -------------------- |

Thanks for all the help, Rob Rob, The last one I did we used a stock 5SFE clutch kit with a 3SGTE pressure plate. You can get them both from Toyota: www.toyotaandlexusparts.com I order from them all the time. -Doc This post has been edited by Dr_Tweak: Oct 22, 2005 - 12:27 AM -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |

i wouldnt recomend a 5sfe disk. my last clutch was fine at 10psi but started sliping when i turned up the boost and had to be replaced after about 6 moths.
try specclutch.com they can make you a 3sgte disk that will fit your 5sfe tranny. they also have the torque rating of what each clutch can hold, so u can pick based on your power goals. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

or try centerforce 5sfe friction and 3sgte pressure plate. I run dual friction in my setup, my friend's AWD talon at 15psi, and a 5.0 no slips and we drive hard everyday.

do not use centerforce... get a spec and be done. the 5sfe disc will never get a full surface contact of the 3s disc so leave it up to spec to do. well worth the $.
most of the swappers are using the cheap downpipe from ebay with good luck. ive rewelded mine just to be safe, make sure to use or make a support bracket and you'll be fine |

Ok, where can I find a good online seller to get a Spec clutch? Also, all of those downpipes on ebay come with the manifold and downpipe. Should I just get that package and use the manifold included, or is the stock 3s manifold better..
Thanks, Rob -------------------- |

thx lagos, yeah sorry i didnt see the link, but I do now . I checked out their site, do you think that a stage 2 will be sufficient for the amount of torque this engine will be making? The torque capacity on a Stage 2 is 279.
Also, how do I go about ordering a 3sgte disk that will fit the 5s transmission? I entered my info on the site and looked at the available clutches for the 5sfe, but I dont know how to find the 3sgte disk. Would I not be fine just using a 5sfe Spec Stg 2 clutch with a Fidanza flywheel? Thx, Rob This post has been edited by RbrtNdrws: Oct 23, 2005 - 12:47 PM -------------------- |

279 is for the 5s disk. The 3s stage 2 is something like 420 lbs of torque. I have a stage 1 which is 390 lbs of torque in my car.

dont do that it wont fit. 5sfe friction disc with the 3sgte pressure plate (the plate that bolts to the flywheel) this is the only way its going to work.

there's another way to do it.
this is what he wants to do i'm guessing spec aint cheap. . . i have both clutches, exedy DG Performance had me buy THESE clutches for my swap, in which i was going to use a GT Tranny. if you want em i'll let em go pretty damn cheap. they're just takin up space ATM anyways. -------------------- |
