I might be saying bye bye to my celica in the near future. I was thinking that somewhere along the line, I might sell my Celi with the 4age swap for 5-6K and switch over to the more popular, yet hated by toyota fans, THE CIVIC!
Yes I am going to get a Civic, the one and only car that I can think off that is missing the arm rest in the middle of the car. I was thinking that I might get a hatchback, cause it looks decent and roomy, yet powerful enough to cream my Celi, then again it would be the only thing that sort of resembles the celi, cause its a HB. Then, Im gonna swap it with a GSR motor and turbo it. Plain and simple, Its a remove, drag and drop, then reconnect process for those damn cars!!!!. GOSH ARGHHH!! THis pisses me off so much. I want a more powerful car, but at the same time I want it to be simple like those hondas. Anyways $1000 for a non-running civic $1-3K for the DOHC engine. I can get it cheap if it was stolen ( ) [Not!] Swap myself, 1 day process. turbo, $2-3K total = The price I sell my celi for. what do you guys think??? Hate mail??? Praises??? Your an idiot comments? wat the hell is rong with u??? |

I highly doubt you'll be able to sell your car for $5,000. But if you're able to, and you want to be like everyone else, then by all means buy a Civic hatch and turbo it. It should be fast and look nice...it just won't be original.

I dont understand some of you guys... you would rather buy a honda which are a dime a dozen, rather than work on a celica which is unique, more of a challenge, and all around better looking than honda.

I think coomer is right, your not going to get what yoiu want for your car..
If you just want somthing fast and easy geta civic. If you want somthing you can really customize, stand out has great handleing and will be dif.. keep your celi. I understand what you mean. I have been tempted to get a dif car cause how easy it would be more power, reliablility. blah blah blah.. |

do it. by the sound of your recent posts seems like you don't particularly like your celi even with a 20v swap. sell it to someone who can appreciate it

I Like it and want to keep it. It looks very nice and pimpin, but if you lose at every drag then wats the point in keeping it. I put in so much money for it already and Im like only getting so much if any out of it. Yes, its tuned right and stuff, but when it comes to newer models, or lighter cars. The celica doesn't have anything that screams Im a winner! Everything has to be swapped in or replaced. Then again this is how all fast cars are to begin with. ARGHHH!! Alright I will keep the thing even if it eats a hole in my wallet the size of south africa. Its the reason y I bought a celica rather than a DOCH prelude (wich was $1K less) in the first place.
Thanks 6G people! |

The celica has a timeless interior and extior design that's just sex. Don't they just don't perform at all. After driving around my rx7, I don't miss the celica. It's nice to feel the rwd balance even in daily driving. Also, it's cool when you know youre faster then most cars on the road.

No matter how much we love our Celicas, they are just cars, and we are just people on a message board supporting them. Don't let us make you feel guilty about wanting a Civic. We are not going to hunt you down if you get rid of the Celica. Like Bobby Brown said "It's [your] perogative, [you] can do what [you] want to do" |

Don't sink that low man. If anything you should buy a Prelude. You said that you lose every drag race? From what I hear the silvertop isn't for drag. Its more for just plain racing. If you wanted something for drag racing maybe you should have swapped in the 4agze engine or something better. Anyway if you really dont like the Celica just sell it. Do whatever makes you happy. |

At first I was going to write a lengthy article comparing celica's to civics on all points you have outlined. But then I remembered, civic owners go to hell. Have fun!

don't buy a prelude my little 1600 mirage can beat the vtec ones and it's stock standard preludes are heavy and slow the vtecs weigh about 1270 kg's in manual form and they look ugly as well sorta like an old casio watch.

Well, I like many hondas and I love toyotas. I do understand your "need for speed". You gotta do what you want. Yes you would be unique by keeping your celi and fixing it up, yet you can be unique with a civic, it's just harder that way though. But still, you shouldn't do things to impress others but rather do what you like.
