Just curious, anyone know what the standing record is right now for a NA 5S-FE? I figured it would be a celica to hold the title as we are the lightest cars to receive the 5S. Might as well get the record and hold on to it lol, since there are so many damn 5S's out there. So if someone can tell me what it is i'll go ahead and try to beat it, maybe start some **** with the mr2 and camry forums.

Theres been well modified N/A MR2's that have run low 15's and high 14's. I've seen it in the naturally aspirated forum over on MR2OC, but good luck getting a FWD Celica to respond as quickly to mods.....it'll take a turbo setup of 10-12 pounds of boost to get times like that. Reason for that is the drivetrain layout superiority of the MR2 and more bolt-ons are available to reach quicker times.

How are more bolt-ons available? What fits a 5S fits a 5S. MR isn't superior in a drag, it's the same as ours, just turned around and slapped in the back. MR2's and celicas are alot alike, just reversed. Our cars are a solid 100 lbs lighter from the factory, we should be able to take this no problem. Just gotta figure out what it is.

A turbo setup of 10-12 sould run in the 13's in a car this light, if it doesnt somethin is wrong. I know MK3 supras that can do that on that boost and they weigh 3400-3600 lbs easy plus the driver.

well mk3 supras have way more torqe from that inline 6 to push that weight.

but as far as parts for a 5s mr2 and a celica, some will work and others wont, like suspention parts to keep the wheels level on the ground, etc will not work, but motor parts are more complicated, I dont know much about how the mr2 is set up but just because its a 5s block dose not mean that its the same, it could be compleaty diff timing and oreantation of parts, in the end fixing up a 5s is not something you do to get fast track times, you put a 3s under the hood for that, its something you do to make a fast street car, or when you dont wana risk a swap.

I don't even think any 5SFE celicas here have beaten my time yet pure n/a...

Also... the MR2 will always be faster mod for mod. Transfers weight much better, can launch much harder, and has far superior traction...

im guessing urs was the 16? I think I can beat that, ill try atleast.

We shouldnt have a problem launching hard, as long as u get some wider stickier tires up front its not like were gonna burn em down the track and the MR2 wont. Sure the weight transfers to the back on acceleration which aids the MR2 but its not like the 5S-FE has that much power, im sure I can find some tires and suspension that a NA 5S will never break past.

The MR2's may have traction but we have less weight. Your celica is a ST isn't it kwanza?

Yes my Celica is an ST... and it was heavily modded many many moons ago (when that run was made). It's currently stock. On a side note... I also drive an n/a MR2...

The 5S in the MR2's and the 5S in the celicas is the same motor, same tranny too, just different intake and exhaust writing.
