Well... I got tired of burning CDs to listen to something I just downloaded in my car and I didn't want to spend any money on an IPOD when I already have a PSP.

So I decided to mount my PSP on my dash and hook it up to my stereo so I can listen to mp3s and watch movies from it.

Here's exactly what I bought to make it happen and how it turned out.

1. Kenwood auxillery input adapter Cable that hooks into my cd-changer port

2. High quality Monster RCA to Audio Jack Cable (19.99). If you cheap out on this there will be a lot of distortion/ feedback.

user posted image

3. Intec PSP Dock. I jamed it into the little crack right above the climate control. It actually fits very snug and stable.

4. I used the little headphone remote thing that came with the psp to control it and I stuffed the audio cable right through the ebrake hole since that's where the remote will be.

Results: Pictures are crappy. It looks really good in person.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

i have the intec stand too.. sorry, but i have to say that stand sucks. it isn't secure. but i give you mad props for a good and cheap mod! biggrin.gif

i got this instead from eBay. i haven't used it in my car yet (car's in the shop) but since it goes in the vents, you should have an easier view at it. it works in conjunction with my Sony Clie. although, the seller didn't give me my charger adapter with it! mad.gif

The Intec PSP Dock has a hinge, so if you really needed to you can move it out of the way to get to the climate controls... besides how often do you touch those controls... not very often for me.

perhaps if you can push the cd deck in abit further, and take out the storage pocket, you can make a little docking station for the psp. pretty much just have that 'dock it' thing screwed in, or taped into the recess so you can put and pull your ps2 onto and from it. you can probably easily build a frame too so that the panel is flush with the psp abit more. just goto your local hobby store and buy some sheets of polystyrene. its pretty much just sheets of model plastic that you can cut easily, and if you want to shape it, you can even put a hair dryer to it for around 30 seconds and it'll become soft and moldable/bendable. just paint it black after.
you can probably even goto the hardware store and get a hinge so you can make it swivle or swing up and down so you can gain access to the compartment or cd deck.

Here you go:
http://www.arkon.com/pspmount.php

REGARDING MY CURRENT SET UP

FYI: I've been using this set up for a couple days now with no problems. I mean if you purposely try to shake it loose it will but normal driving doesn't budge it.

Plus the 'dock it' thing is only 10 bucks at frys instead of over price mounts that aren't really designed for PSP but seem more like universal things that "work" for psps.

Looks good. Is it solid? Did you hook it up to your stereo?
