Lmao. I just got home from some hangout and my friend has a Nissan Sentra SE-R SPEC-V. Nice car but it's kinda ugly. But whatever. My question is in general, not just about the Sentra but this is something I want to avoid when I get the new engine in the Celi... Backfire. This guy got a brand new engine and the exhaust sounds okay. Not too ricey. But when he revs real high it backfires real nasty and you hear all these pop sounds. Lol. It's pretty funny. What does the backfiring come from. Is it due to something with the engine? If so, what is it?

Somtimes backfire comes from access gas coming out of the exhaust. Or somtimes even oil. If the engine is getting to much gas, Sometimes that gas ignites from the heat of the exhaust. Not sure could be a couple things.

oh. well i dunno if the word is "backfire". lol. now that you mention that. because i would imagine you would see a little bit of fire come out of the exhaust for a minute(which i saw once from an rx-7's exhaust). theres no fire it just makes a real lous weird pop sound when you rev real high.

Hmmm. It still might be from getting to much gas. I don't know for sure. But possibly.

cars run ritch from the factory in the upper rpms and thats what causes the poping you hear. normally with a small exhaust, facotory cats, resonator, muffler, you dont hear any of this.

take a look at a stock srt4s exhaust one day. they only have one resonator and no muffler, and that produces a nice poping exhaust sound for that car.

o, so the popping is good/cool? because some of the car people there that were watching were laughing. So I immideately thought that was a bad/embarresing thing.

Once you pop, you just can't stop. lol After getting my exhaust done, my car has a nice pop every now and then. I love it.

Like everyone said its caused by unused fuel in the exhaust. Going with a straight through exhaust just amplifies that poping sound.

I'll try and put up a short video of how my exhaust sounds.

just running a little rich, chances are he has other mods to. my exhaust does that everynow and then. rx-7s are notorious for it, my buds fd does it every time he floors it and lets off, but its not a pop its a flame, a good 1ft-2ft flame

mine will just do a normal backfire once in a while. it seems to be caused by the bov being vented. well see what changes when i open up the exhaust

My car does it too...it's kind of loud when it happens usually. But I don't like it...my car is running rich right now and I think I need new plugs.

My car has a very mild back firing. When im downshifting or coming down from around 4000RPM, it pops a few. It sounds cool..gets some attention, but its not 2 ricey or loud, but its cool. My gf thinks its cool cuz my car vibrates cuz of it..hehehe tongue.gif biggrin.gif

I luv that back fire sound. Its usually due to timing being off, or bad spark and gas.

My car pops more in lower rpms it seems like to me. I probably need new plugs. I know ralley cars pop and spit around like crazy. My car didn't start doing this till I started modifying it, so I think it's kinda cool.

mine pops every now and then. especially when i rev around 4k and shifts from 1st to 2nd. it'll then go POP. i love it. especially after sitting in a evo 8 with the anti turbo lag system (misfiring system). it shoots flames but then it sounds like our popping too just louder. but i love it. POP POP POP POP POP biggrin.gif

The prob with mine is when it hits high rpms from a recent cold start. It does'nt do it at all after that. Its kind of a popping but lots of little ones instead of one or two big pops. Is that the same thing you guys are talking about?
