Radar Detectors, Which is best? Options

I'm in the market for a radar detector. i need the best one available. lol. any recommendations? i prefer it to have a blue display. i've seen many that are red but i want mine to be blue. i like the ones that make the cool noises when you start the car too. those cool little beeps. lol. and of course, be good at detecting all types of radar detectors/cops/whatever. please let me know whats good out there. i also dont want that cigarette lighter crap. is there anyway i can connect it to the cigarette lighter wires behind the plastic. like connecting it to the power and ground wires from the cig lighter so that you dont see that plug or anything? thanks guys.

what's with the horror stories i heard about cops having "radar detector" detectors?
I would certainly not mind have a radar detector but i know they are illegal over here. I heard that if you get "detected" with one they will impound ur car, strip it down until they get the radar detector and charge u up the as-s

yeah... i dont think theyll do that... at least not here in miami. and if they did, i swear i put a bullet in that cop sooner or later. but yeah, i searched right after i posted and found that yeah, valentine 1 is the best and then escort 8500 x50 is real good too and cobra. they were both pretty expensive. i wouldnt pay more than 100 for a radar detector. its not that serious. lol. so i went with a cobra xrs9700. it looks pretty good. and it only cost me 13 shipped. not bad, i think. my friend has a cobra and it makes a real cool noise when the car starts. lol. so yeah, i think the 9700 is the best from cobra. so lets see about that.

one more question tho, how about those CB radios??? Im guessing its so you can listen in to the cops and know when theyre coming. ive been watching too much FnF. "We got a 187 in glenndale, i repeat, we got a 187, we're good to roll, i repeat, good to roll". lol. what should i look for when buying one?

Cops don't use CB anymore. You'll need a scanner to hear their conversations.

Oh dude, I got the matrix led bulbs in the mail today and im going to put them in tomorow. you got any pics of ur caR justin? i see you have a blue led interior. thats what im going for. i couldnt put the led bulb through the back of the cluster. im guessing i have to unscrew the gauges and stick the bulb through the front, right?

yeah, i wanted a scrambler too. i checked out some scanners on ebay and they seem promising. does anyone have experience with these? whats a good brand and how many channels should i look for?

I don't remember what type of scanner or anything but if you go to radioshack I'm sure they'll be able to set you up no problem.
Oh just a little warning about scanners... In some states when a scanner is used during a crime the punishment / sentence can be increased significantly.

The matrix LEDs fit fine in my cluster. I just had to wiggle them in a little bit. Here are a couple pictures for you:

The interior looks awesome. I can't wait to finish mine. Very nice. The lighting on the gauges look perfect. I tried wiggling them in a bit but nothing. I guess I'll stick em in through the front and joing the little green plug thing in the back. It should work.

Thanks for the info on the scanner. I'll check out radioshack tomorrow. I'm not worried about the crime thing. Lol. I'm not planning on killing someone. It's more for the street racing thing. I figured so much more people would have a police scanner but I guess not. That's so odd. I can't believe I got that radar detector so cheap! Let's see what they tell me at radioshack.
