Cup Holder Options

The pull-out cup holder on the 6th Gen Celica is such a poor piece of design and gets in the way of shifting. Taking the top (with the slide-out cup holder) off the storage box and using the box as a cup holder seems much more functional.

Is there an after market drop in cup holder for the storage box? Or does anyone have any other ideas?

Yah, I had some nasty experience with the cup holder b4. I had a Sonic size drink that wouldn't fit in and when I sat it on top of the holder I knocked it over while shifting gears. Usually I drive with my drinks in between my laps, or I don't drink PERIOD. A friend of mine today had his pop and needed to use the cupholder to store his drink while he went to grab another friend. Right before we left the house, I gave him back his drink, cause I couldn't shift with the thing in the way.

you could always get one that slides in between your window and the door panel or you could cut a big hole in the top of your arm rest...

or you could somehow mount the cupholder ontop of the armrest

I cut a slit in the back of the armrest and slide the cupholder through that so it sits over top of the middle divider between the back seats... works out great and holds cans perfectly

or since our cars have double deck's we can use a sliding out cup holder instead of the pocket.

I had a nasty exp. with that too. It fell over and spilled inside the arm rest thingy when I was going around the corner. It was really baaaaaaaaaad. One minute im like hey this works and the next is "OH S*********T"

There's a dealer option for a padded armrest addition on top of the current armrest which has two large cup holders that sit behind the armrest between the chairs. UK celicas seeem to have them more than others.
