here it is - my opinion:

http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showto...=0&#entry362038

And in reality - 3S swap is WAY better.... Less trouble

is it really less trouble
i figured that the swap would be more of an adventure than just workin with the 7a

well its just cuz the 7afe isnt built for boost and the 3sgte is thats why it would be more reliable to have a boost capable 3sgte than turboing the 7a in the long run. tho a fully built for boost 7afe can be as reliable as a 3sgte, it would probably cost more for this kinda build than just swapping in a 3sgte. dont get me wrong...3sgte swap isnt exactly a walk in the part either...but when its in there OH does it FEEL SO GOOD! biggrin.gif

if you really need to ask for opinions between the 7afte and 3sgte, your not ready for either, you need to do more research.
that said, 3s.

7afte = easy install, but lots of issues and worries when its running. your motor could pop at any minute.

3sgte = longer install time. almost no issues once its done, unless you cheap out and buy a ****ty motor from the getgo. unlimited potential once its installed. (see jgreenings posts.lol)

get a 3sgte

that is exactly the kind of thing i was looking for someone to say

tks lagos

i meen i knwo im not completely ready for anything right now i just wanted to which is better
for instance if the 7a was longer lasting then the 3s id wanna know before i put one in... stuff like that
and of course i didnt know that the 7a wasnt built for boost which doesnt seem like that hard of a thing to believe

Hey man do a search about this. It has been discussed many times... smile.gif

I know for me, i wouldnt want to research the 7a, 5a, 3s, etc. and spend a ton of time researching all of my options, when i could hear the better choice and spend that time just on that one engine. Im sure everyone here is smart enough to use the search button, it just seems much more practical to ask the experts.

With that id also say go 3s. From what ive read, it seems like money better spent.

I would have done a 3sgte if i had the space, but my parents didn't want half a car sitting in the driveway for a month.

Actually I did some math and figured that if you break it down into dolar per horse power, you can get a slightly better deal with a 7afte (concidering part prices and estimated labor times at 25 buck per hour). That being said, it is a bit nerve racking driving around my 7afte because of the reasons people already stated.

dont worry cheesy if u keep the motor happy the motor will keep u happy... wink.gif the 7afe is a strong little bugger so dont sweat it...corolla guys have been turboing their 7a's (done correctly) for years with some good long lasting results

yea thats always an option...i think if i was going to swap in a 3sgte, id just go and let a pro do it...id feel so much more comfortable with that. And if your a perfectionist like me, you find yourself spending alot more on every little part...hopefully next summer i can find someone willing to complete the swap for me...until then, im all ST.

I have thought about both ways for more power.

3sgte is the way to go hands down. Its more reliable, faster, and has way more potential. Would I do it again? yes in a heart beat.

If you dont have the room for a swap, then a 7afte is a better option.

Here is few thoughts for you,
What would be better and more reliable:

- Toyota Factory creation, where are 1000 of people researching developing, testing, blowing HUGE $ on experiments, manufacturing, testing they products in the whole world?

- OR just Some info from few peeps in whole world who did all the stuff by them self in a garage, using Internet for research (not a lab biggrin.gif), used they own tools, experimented the best way as they could (....hmm lets put this here and see what happends...... biggrin.gif) and still having some issues about the job they done???

As your self a question - you need to drive your car, or Always fix it?

You find the answer at this pretty quick - so go with the 3S swap, witch now has MORE info, MORE people to help you, MORE resurces on fixing / parts then anything else for 6Gen. It was hard to swap 3 years back - now the road is clear.....

I agree that if you can, go with the 3SGTE.

With that said, there's one significant advantage to the 7A turbo. If you blow it up, replacing it is about $300 and less than a day's work. smile.gif

How come the 4age isn't as popular of a option? Is it its size?
