When I worked at my old job I built, modified, and maintained the companies' websites, built and fixed computers, solved software issues, wrote intranet applications, and built Access/VB programs from time to time. The best ever though would be when they'd send me on store runs to Office Depot. Nothing like getting paid to drive my car around.

please try to imagine with me..
there is a big roll of plastic. We load it onto a machine and the plastic runs through and gets cut into bags. The machine places the bags on some hooks, and when its done I take them off the hook, put them on a wicket (shaped like this "[") and then put it in a box. Once the box is full I tape it closed. I do this until the pallet is full, then I ship it. I change the rolls of film, lable boxes, perform quality tests, ink tests while managing 2 of these machines both running around 200 Bags per minute. Sounds easy, but I assure you, most of the people here would quit after a day or two. Stressful. I might say maybe 50 words in the 8 hr period because there is no one to talk to. I sing to myself and I think about what I can buy for my Celi with the money I'm making. Pay= 11.96/hr -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

I work at costco in the gas department, some things I do are:
-member assistance (people who don't know how to work a pump) -maintenance (replace nozzles, hoses, etc....) -paper work (we sell almost 30,000 gallons a day so we get a lot of loads of gas) -drive and do competitive shops (I get paid about 43 cents a mile plus regular wage to drive around and check local gas prices, mostly arco's.) -stand around and day dream... I do a lot of that This post has been edited by Benevolence: Nov 18, 2005 - 2:43 PM |

30% of my job is to answer phone calls for order processing (you know those paid programming TV ads? we take the orders)
60% is just sitting around. usually, i'll load up my PSP with anime (bleach, naruto... all the good stuff) and watch 'em. or i'll play NFS underground or play cell phone games. the other 10% is used for paid breaks. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

i hook up people's numbers to verizon dsl. i run the copper wires at the central office that normally go from the computer (line equipment) to another pair of pins on whats called a COSMIC frame. from there it runs out to ur house.
pretty much to sum it all up, i run wires back and forth and connect them to pins. i get most of it done in a couple of hours, take an hour lunch, play some psp, surf the web, and call it a day. $14/hour with a dollar increase every 6 months -------------------- |

I work with my dad, he's a real estate developer. We just closed on a house last week, and we're remodeling it to sell.
Here's some things I do: Electrical Roofing Ripping up carpet and refinishing floors Painting Cleaning Landscaping Data Connections And probably a million other things I forgot, lol. I do more than heavy work though, I routinly go to Lowes, Home Depot and do a lot of shopping. Today I was supposed to meet with an electrician so he could relocate/upgrade the breaker box, but the DB never showed or called. I make my own hours, although I usually have to work on weekends if we're doing a BIG project, Like now we're trying to get the roof done before winter. I'm still in HS, and I'm getting $8.50/hour, I get $4.25 cash, the other half goes towards school. Last weekend I made $115, so It's not a bad job -------------------- |
