I have most of my engine taken aprat now, i recently found a crack in my cylinder head mad.gif and decided to be adventurous and fix it myself. I have the intake apart, the exuast manifold out, head off, valve cover off, alternator out. I already bought all new gaskets and belts including timing belt (and a new head of course). im at the stage where my pistons are exposed and im wondering if anyone has anything that i can do while im inside of her wink.gif ?

The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?

well if you need someone to tell you what to do while youre inside of her then maybe this is something youre not ready to tackle. j/k. sounds good man. what're your goals as far as the engine goes. what are the plans?

Plain the head down, and port and polish. Other than that, replace everything you can. Rings are more than likely a good idea while your at it.

I have a GT engine for sale, less than 100K miles on it and runs great if you get stuck and want to swap it in. In Mass too

lol I know what im doing. I am armed to the teeth with a haynes manual and a buddy who works at a Toyota dealership near my town. its coming along alright, My plans? I just want to get her rolling again. shes been off the road for almost two weeks now. and im lookin at another couple of days once shes fixed to have my top replaced. (couple guys broke into my car a few weeks ago, they cut my top i broke one of their jaws) But other than what im doing, i dont have any further plans until the summer time. I just didnt know if you guys knew of anything that I could do to try and help her run a lil better while im in here. Its a shame to go through all this work and only change the head ya know? I can see that my intake is pretty filthy on the inside, is there any way to clean that out?

haynes manual?? The last thing that strapped me down was Haynes manual and Chiltons.
So after a while, I threw the two books away and went at it myself. Theres nothing like a Prize other than a Surprize!

Yeah about 2 months ago my car was broken into. I came outside and saw my window broken and stuff so i looked around and saw 2 kids running away from the car when they saw me. Just some punk college kids, so i chased one of em down, tripped him up and popped him in the jaw. They tryed cutting through my top first, that didnt work so they busted in my window and tryed stealin my stereo. they didnt get it, just gauged up my dash real good Nobody touches my baby like that. smile.gif
