Do you have a cel, if so it might be your throttle positioning sensor.
at least thats what I would look into

^ weird. and how do you reset an ECU?, is there a reset buttom.

mine does that a little when I first turn it, it kinda struggles for a sec, and sometimes just sits at low rpm (like 500 ish) but it runs just fine if I rev the pettle up even just slightly makes a diff. I think mine is that the throttle cable is to lose or something)

yes, you may have a faulty coolant temp sensor. mine was faulty and i was getting a low idle.

what happens is since the coolant temperature sensor isn't reading the temperature (seeing that's it's faulty or broken) that the ECU uses a fail-safe temperature (probably around 40 oC) and assumes the coolant is at that temperature (which really is NOT). and because of that, you would get a low idle.

usually this is the case during a cold morning start-up but this shouldn't be the case if your engine is already warmed up.

i'm guessing your injectors may need cleaning.. because if that's the case, you'd get anywhere between a low idle to a normal idle.. and bounces up and down in that range. if that's the problem, just take your car to a mechanic and have the injectors cleaned, or buy a bottle of the injector cleaner which is only about $6

hello and thanks for the reply
basically i have the problem when my car is hot after driving in town and when the traffic lights are red and i stop and leave the petrol pedal idle the rpm is going up and down and after 2-3 sec. it turns off.
i can turn it on with the switch but when i leave the petrol pedal idle again is turns off again:(
i try the stp injector cleaner but nothing happens.
a friend told me that the problem maybe the coolant sensor and if i disconnect it he told me that the car would be ok
is it true? do anybody knows where is the coolant senor?

You need to clean or replace the idle air control valve. It is on the bottom of the throttle body...atleast it is on the 5sfe not 100% sure about the beams 3sge. You can clean it with any intake cleaner or even carb cleaner if you are strapped......or you can just send the car to me and I'll give it s good home.

Oh that sensor. Yeah I'd just replace that or make sure it is in good and tight. Didn't think it would mess up the running of the engine though.
