Has anyone ever used one of these chips? I recently bought one and I want to install it on my 95 ST.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm not always up on the new parts out there. I thought this might be something I hadn't heard of.

There is actually a company called JET that does a re-chip for a big chunck of change... however... generic "chip mods" don't always yeild power simply because engine are NOT created equal. Personally with Toyotas... I wouldn't bother with chips. Too much work and money for too little gain... especially on a stock motor.

This is specifically for the 4cyl. Toyota engines. I thought it was a cheap universal but the have different ones for diferent cars.

Yeah, dont bother. Probablly just a waste of money. Getting an ecu from jet would deffinetlly be good. But again, really expensive.

hmm, I think those chips really don't do anything. If you remove the air temp sensor from a car it still runs the same regardless. The chips only fool a part of the ECU's program that really never even functioned in the begining. Its like eatting imagainery food. Your pigging it all down, but.....your still hungry!

This also conects to the MAP sensor and the TPS and a few others. It doesn't eliminate them but it uses thier signals to modify the ECU's output.

Just update everyone I installed the chip today. It took about 2 hours because I took my time and did things right. It does help change the A/F curve so that the engine puts out a few more horses. I don't know what it would compare to but it connects to the TPS and the MAP sensor and uses the Map's output to modify the ECU. The only thing is that it does make the car use more gas. Here is for the people that denied that these chips exist.

chips are stupid. DriverFX.ca used to/still does offer 2 diferent chips for the GT/GT-S and it adds like 10 or 15 HP but the thing is, u gotta buy the chip for $300+ then u get the chip shipped in, u pick it up, then u have to go into your car, take out ur ECU, and spend $ shipping it to the company, then spend more $ gettin that $300 chip installed, then spend more $ getting it back. All in all it probably costs around $500 or more to get 10-15HP.

Why not tune a SAFC2? Wouldn't that be the same thing but better and cheaper?

Sorry man but you wasted your money. Sounds like it works the exact same way as a Venom 400, which is alright, but I would have gotten one of those used for about 120 bucks less.

SAFCII is better and does the same thing and more, and is controlable, but its not less (unless you find a used one maybe)

I've seen them as low as $235 shipped on ebay. The thing that I think would run up the price is having a dyno shop tune it for you.

Bought this one for $93 used on EBay. It has the function to turn it off and doesn't require a shop to tune it. I ain't rich so whatever I can do myself I do, plus this car gets driven everyday so it has to stay running.

Putting a SAFC II is not going to stop the car from running. It'll make it run better. Sometimes the cheap thing to do, is the cheap thing for a reason. That's why I've never gotten it. How are you gains? I've always been to afraid of that thing.
