You ever feel like you have so much to do to your car. and you find yourself getting frustrated because you have no money and/or time to do it. Well that is how i feel and i am wondering if i should just scrap the whole 3sgte idea and just stay with what i have in my car. Not because i dont love my celica only because to pull this swap off and make it right and put all the time and money into it i am looking at $6000 just to do the swap. I could afford it but should i spend my money elsewhere. These are just questions i have been asking myself because i am confused on which angle to pursue, 3sgte or more important things in life. Though i dont like to face the fact that i am growing up and am running out of time before i do start a family and career, should i do one last project that could end up being a family heirloom. Moreover all of us ask ourselves if we are doing the right thing by spending this much on a car that could end up wrecked or broken. But is it truly worth all the pain and sacrifice for the few minutes or years or decades of joy that the car may provide? I am still thinking my position on this issue though after pondering all the issues and aspects of what it would cost and how much joy i would get from it i think my joy in the short life that we live far outweighs the material cost that so often leads to the downfall of enthusiasts projects. Therefore i have decided to in fact start the swap and hope for the best as i drive the car and wish nothing happens to it. If all goes well i will be boosted by the spring of 2006, wish me luck. Thank you for reading this brainstorm and all of us should consider this as the base of why we decide to mod out our cars. Living young and fast will only be with us for so long, so as we age we look back at our previous failures and should ofs and could ofs and ask ourselves how our lifes would have differed if we made a different decision. Dont let bad decisions haunt your adulthood. And that is all i am saying.

You shouldn't feel obligated to do the swap. Modifying your car comes when it should, not all up front. If you don't have the money, then wait until you do, and have the time. As long as you don't wreck the Celica, it will be ready for the swap or your next mod when you get around to it.

its gonna cost me about that much to swap too - because i will not have the time to do it myself - and i live in a duplex - where i cannot work on the car in my drive way - also don't want to bother anyone by using their garage since it may take about 1 month to finish - i feel the pain - 6k is probably for a 3rd gen with custom exhaust - FMIC -
with car rental expense - shipping the car to the place doing the work and finding some way to get there with friend or flying to the location then driving it back home - all adds up - not a cheap project - but well worth it |

well i am nto depressed about moding my car, i am jsut wondering if i am making a good decision about doing it and spending all that money. Because it is possible that all that money and effort will go down the drain in a instant, car crash, fire etc. Is it really worth taking that chance? That was all i was saying, but i have decided to do the swap and enjoy it as long as it lasts because i dont want to look back at this 20 years down the road and say i should have done that but i didnt. -------------------- 1994 celica GT.....3sgte in a month! all helpers are welcome!!! i live in Plattsburgh, NY.

Maybe you shouldn't be asking yourself if you should swap but when would be the right time to do it. When the time is right to do the swap you'll know. I'm renting a house right now with a one car garage that doesn't really hold one car. My Celica isn't my daily driver so I could be without it for a month but I'd rather not. I really want to do it but I know that the timing just isn't right. I really want to buy a house and get some of the larger life choices worked out before I go and do something like this. In the end I know that I'll like the results, it's just the path to reach that end is difficult right now. The way will get easier with time. I'm just going to wait for the reight opportunity.

$6K is a lot to do an engine swap, so think hard about the timing and your financial goals and if this is really the right time to do it. You are young and probably single, but think about what is most important to you $$ wise, and if it happens to be this swap, go for it! I am 29 and have been a 6gc owner for 6 years. I have maybe only put about 2K into my car all the while being a bachelor. Now I just got married, have plenty of savings to do something like this, but I know my wife would go nuts if I wanted to do what you are doing. But she did let me buy another 6gc b/c I always wanted a stick shift, given that I will sell my other car. I guess my point is, this is probably your optimal time to do something like this, b/c it may not be a financial priority when you are getting married, trying to buy a house, having kids, etc.
