As I see it Toyota's line up of cars branded with the name of Toyota seems to have become dull, unfashionable and rather crappy lately. There are no more sporty type cars such as the Celica Gen. 7 Which I see as the only car that is worth being called Sporty at all right now in Toyotas line up of cars.
When you look at other manufactures such as Subaru, Honda, Nissian, and Domestic makers. You will notice that they have new high-tec cars that are way more powerful, faster and beyond better than Toyotas line up of cars. They are considered to be fashionable and sporty.

It seems that Toyota has gone from the fast and the furious to the grandma and grandpa scene.
I was once a proud fan of Toyota untill I noticed that the market has changed from what it used to be. Pretty soon Toyota will only appeal to those who have grown rather old, dull, and shaky.
Perhaps its time we all change what we think and persue the name of "The young and the restless". Day by day we all get older. Pretty soon we will all be like our parents (Minus those who already are....) and the good life when suping up cars was everything will be gone. We will have families to take care off, and driving will become only something that we find enjoyable when were alone in our big AS mini-van, or SUV. kindasad.gif
What will become of Toyota? Will the name of Lexus and Scion dominate our future in the name of speed originating from Toyota?

Its quite sad how Toyota went from the Supra's and The celica's to the Rolla's and Solara's of now a days. I basicly sadly see'n it all going Scion for the "younger" crowed. I personaly hate the looks of them but considering manufactures do whatever they want.

Mabey someday again they will try and compete with others but its not looking good with honda's putting out over 200hp 4 bangers from the facotry.

we should all sign a petition saying that Toyotas going in the completely wrong direction w/ they're style of cars. Or tell them that they need to make a new model thats sporty. I agree, Toyota has not been keeping the name they once held w/ the supra, mr2, and celica. Now that those are all gone, theres nothing left to appeal to the younger crowd.

Toyota's line up is not appealing to us because Toyota is focusing manily on luxury and gas economy. Thats the whole reason they made scion. Scion is marketed for a younger audience. The TC isn't all that bad.

I agree with this topic...

Did you guys know that Toyota pulled out of Formula One? I was kind of shocked to see this...Toyota is a competitive manufacturer in racing. You'd think their publicity and history of performance would have strong enough credentials to have a performance line of street cars.

I guess thats just another sign that perhaps Toyota's performance focus will be on the back burner for a while..

Toyota's best line-up was in the 90s..
after the year 2000, they are focused on making their new cars affordable and economic.. which totally sucks for people wanting performance.

in a way, they made a good choice in doing this so they can boost up sales and income.. imagine having to buy a $45,000+ sports car if Supras or GT-Fours were still around. they probably wouldn't get as much sales as their 7th gen celi line-up (i see them everywhere!). so probably they see the mistake they did back in the 90s and are now moving towards affordablility in vehicles.

so should we expect a high-performance vehicle from Toyota in the near future? not likely, or at least until they finish their concept hi-performance hybrid..

see the thing is though, the sporty'ist toyota's we have here r the new Yaris, and the Matrix XRS and the Solara. The solara isnt 2 bad if they r lowered, the Matrix XRS is pretty good, not fast but alright, and the Yaris 2dr is pretty "sporty". There is a guy who came into my work at the tire place who put on a set of OZ Super Torismo GT wheels, it looks like a WRC car. We unfortunatly dont get Scion up here. The only Scions we get are XB's and there is only 1 dealership relatively close by (55 min away) that sells em. So all we really have is the Yaris, XRS and Solara and then lexus, but lexus are stupidly expensive. a 2001 IS300 with 154xxxKm on it goes for roughly $18-20K up here, auto. Be thankful you guys in the US have scion.

Toyota really upsets me now. Honestly, the 7th gen Celica was the best thing they've ever done recently. It won car and drive's best sport compact in 01 and 02, I think. Then WRX, and it just can't compete with that. Toyota sucks now. It's become the new Buick. Anyone know how irritated people got when they stopped making the Grand National? Now look at them. So sad. They're still pretty fast though. Eh, I've talked about buying a Honda forever, but I'll probably just end up with an STi. One more thing, TC's aren't fast, no Sicion is.

The LF-A is real sporty so would the price tag.. I believe it will fall in the Lexus line-up

Toyota is really focused on fuel economy, comfort, luxary. I don't there will be any type of sportscar from them for a long time. Maybe around 2015 or something, but in the upcomming years nope.. Ill still be a Toyota Fan either ways

toyota's objective is not to create fast sports cars. There attempting to beat GMC and become the worlds largest car manufacture. So they are taking the good guys side with greener runing cars and more conservative car styling.

Exactly! Toyota pretty much owns Subaru now and they are taking a stab at GM. From what I am hearing, Dodge is next in line to fall. Eventually Toyota will own most of GM's sub divisions. Also, I do agree that there aren't any real sports car coming out for Toyota but some of the rumors can change things around. Like the 200hp hybrid MR2. The new Scion model that is really unknown. And maybe the return of the Supra. We just got to wait.
