Ueshiba was strictly aikido. Now how can you expect a man that is strictly a close range fighting style oriented person to take down a master of mixed martial arts such as bruce lee. Two words for you - Long Range. You ever see what a bruce lee thigh kick can do to a cyanic nerve? Lee wins all the way biggrin.gif

Although you know something, Bruce Lee didn't used to kick in his martial art of Jeet Kun Do until he met and trained a little bit with Chuck Norris. Bruce Lee would still kick his ass hands down, but there's a Bruce Lee fact for you!

hehe... we should make random bruce lee facts... just like that chuck norris random fact generator. And, I did know that kicks weren't incorporated into bruce's personal JKD system until later, because the base system was wang chun - which was basically blocking, trapping, and striking. what i didn't know was if the kicks into the system were any influence of chuck norris. I was under the belief that he adopted his kicking style from muai thai kickboxing smile.gif

Bruce Lee has no style... no form... no specific "way" of fighting (he was a former pupil of Wing Chun, but he out-grew that)... Bruce Lee actually regreted the terming of "Jeet Kune Do" and the direction those "CONCEPTS" were taken by other martial artists. Jeet Kune Do was meant as a philosophical look on martial arts, instead of a "style". Bruce Lee's concepts and/or philosophy on martial arts is called Jun Fan gung fu. Chuck Norris was one of his students and was quoted by Washinton newspapers as "being handled like a parent would a small child" by Bruce Lee. This is not refrence to only Chuck Norris, but Mike Stone, amougst other famous American Karate Champions of the time. There's no competition or even a close approximate comparison. Bruce Lee has ALL of the tools as far as conceptual martial arts go... and Chuck Norris can't even come close to that.

As for Bruce Lee kicking... Bruce Lee ALWAYS kicked. The mis-conception that Bruce Lee didn't kick till later in his martial arts study is based on Wing Chun forms. Wing Chun limits kicking to below the waist and to thrusting and isn't considered a major attack... but Bruce Lee pretty much stopped studying Wing Chun by the time he came to America and started focusing on Martial arts as a whole instead of style by style. He took whatever worked for him and formulated it into his arsenal.

Bruce lee would kill chuck norris in the UFC... lol
and yes kwanza ... that was a very accurate post!
but it was more or less exactly what i have been saying all along.. hehe
he used no stlye as a style and no way as a way (although JKD was just conceptual - it was interpreted as style by idiots) - absorb what is useful, discard what is useless, and add what is your own
and i personally think the only thing good to come out of wing chun was the straight blast biggrin.gif
