Hi
Could someone give me a stright answer to this question

i bought my car a year ago under a GT but my mate who works for Toyota says its not got the GT engine in it.
I said to my mate it says 2.0L but he says its a carollo engine. Is he taking the p*ss.

The info write in the chassis is:
ST202 3S-FE 2.0 16V

In the book it says GT 2.0 is 173bhp.

take a pic of the engine bay and post it here if you want an exact anser, but it soulds like its just a 3sfe, which I think is basicly the head off a 3sge on the block of a 5sfe. and 173bhp is about right for that.

Carollo, as in a John Carollo engine?

not even close to 173bhp. it produces less than the 5sfe.

3sfe is the F head on a S block i think its the same head as the 5SFE and the block of The 3sge. just like it said 2.0l instead of 2.2l

something is wrong here!?

if it is a uk or jdm celica as i suppose, it should have the 2.0 litre 3s-ge engine with around 170hp.

the 3s-fe is the 2.0 litre engine from camry, carina... and many others... but it was never used in a celica (correct me if i'm wrong)! has less hp than the 3s-ge, i think around 130!

Aside from the headers, does your engine look something like this?

So much incorrect information in this thread it's not even funny.

It's all right here:
http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=information&itu=3

It is not "basicly" a G head on a 5S Block
Yes, 3SFEs were used in Celicas.

Well when you break down the engine code that is right. 3S is the block type F is the head type and E is Electronic fuel injection. Wether or not the 5SFE and 3SFE head are exactly the same and the 3SFE and 3SGE blocks are the same I couldn't tell you, I've never had them side by side. I'd venture to say that they are very similar but they'll probably have their little differences.

Though I've never had them side by side either, I can almost garantee you that they're different. For example, there's a difference in the 7A and the 4A heads, and a big difference between the 4AFE and 4AGE bottom ends, a BIG difference. Even though they are both "A" engines.

A large difference between the F-head used on the 3S and F-head used on the 5S -- 0.2L

The head doesn't have anything to do with the .2L displacement difference.

It's not a GT if it has a 3S-FE. It's a JDM SS-I.

You did know it was an import.

This is what i read so i thought it was a 173bhp car. I put my foot down 0-60 was like not being funny 6-7 seconds.
It is a import i think from Japan.
Ill put a pick of the engine in a min.

http://www.badongo.com/vid.php?file=celica...6_celica.wmv&s=

above is a link i tried to go as quick as poss
the first one is 0-60 at the begining i had to turn to car as i was going left. And the other scene was 0-50 i ran out of road but that looks pretty quick. Also i was holdin the camcorda and ground was wet.

Maybe it could help.
